Maricela Aguilar, Honduras We have had the pleasure of working with the Aguilar family since 2012. They established their 31.1-acre farm in 1997. Maricela has helped on the family farm since age 11 and has recently taken the lead in the production and commercialization of sustainable, certified coffees.	Pedro Fiallos, Honduras Pedro and his family have a rich history of hard work, turmoil and triumphs. Pedro was first a mason before he became a coffee farmer. With his earnings as a builder, he saved up to purchase a set of oxen, which he used to haul construction materials on a contract basis. He has been working with San Francisco Bay Coffee since 2012.	Gustavo's Buena Vista Farm, Colombia San Francisco Bay Coffee has been instrumental in changing Gustavo’s quality of life and ensuring fair compensation for his farm’s output. As is the case with many small-farm coffee growers, relationships are key. Favorite Coffee! Great for those who like true coffee flavor

San Francisco brand French Roast coffee has been my go to coffee for years now. It consistently has an enjoyable bold, true coffee flavor and aroma. When visiting coffee houses trying coffees from different regions of the world is something I enjoy and it's so cool of an experience tasting the differences. Hanging out or frequenting those groovy little independent coffee shops is not easy now due to living in a rural area.

While this coffee might not be some peoples choice, it works for me and works really well. It's definitely bold and full-bodied and sometimes I taste some sort of smoke aftertaste that's enjoyable. I roast my own coffee and am careful about selecting beans but haven't been able to find time to do that this year. When out of San Francisco French Roast coffee I literally freak for a minute and then search all over for anything with actual flavor that might be lurking forgotten in our coffee pantry. When I find all we have is my husbands Max... House breakfast blend it makes me cringe and take a deep breath knowing I didn't plan well enough to reorder and now will have to struggle through a cup of that weird flavor and weak taste until it can be replaced.

This coffee arrives quickly once ordered, and is packaged carefully using recycled products. The pods are designed to work in single serve K-cup type brewers but they're environmentally better bc they don't have all that plastic that gets wasted. The tops are made of thick paper and the bottoms are made of a densely woven sort of paper netting. They work just fine and without any hiccups in my plain, single-serve, k-cup brewer. The pods are made to be recycled too. Each box contains, I think, 8 compostable bags and in each bag there are 10 single serve coffee pods. An added huge bonus comes when you open one of your bags and - poof! - out comes the intoxicating aroma of fresh ground, full-bodied coffee. So good!

To set the scene, I am a Starbucks fan. I had been on a kick of buying their k-cups, which aren't always cheap but they have a reliably bold and fresh flavor. I had actually come on Amazon to see if I could find the Starbucks Autumn Blend (which is a strong limited edition flavor that I can never find in stores) when I stumbled upon these. The price was fantastic and I really loved the idea of the compostable cups, i.e. my convenience item being less terrible for the environment. The reviews were also great, but I was skeptical because often when the ratings are this high, the reviewers are shills. Also, coffee is a matter of taste, so how seriously can you take a 5 star review from someone you've never met who might like something completely different than you? That's why I started out here talking about Starbucks, so you can get an idea of my taste. ???? For the price, I decided to give these a try, and I'm so glad I did because I am amazed how good they are. Left black, it is a nice strong coffee. Add some sweetener and it is a very smooth, bold flavor. Add some cream and you can still actually taste the coffee. ???? My boyfriend also likes this brand and he is a real coffee snob who used to be a Starbucks barista and thinks he knows all about coffee. ???? The compostable cups work well, too. I sometimes get a little bit of residue in the bottom of my cup, but it is very fine and not the consistency of getting grounds in your coffee or anything.

I did have one guest at Christmas dinner say that they didn't like it, but that person isn't normally a coffee drinker and just thought the French roast was too strong for her.

Love that it's compostable! It is very affordable, nice cup of coffee! I do like mine a little bolder and bigger on the flavor. But it is a good cup, and you can't beat the cost, and compostability! Recommend!

The best coffee flavors and a great variety for all kinds of coffee lovers

I've written several reviews for the varieties of San Francisco Bay coffees that I've tried, yet Amazon only posts the most recent review regardless of coffee flavor. So, with that being said, here is now an all encompassing review for all varieties of these K Cups.

Overall, San Francisco Bay has by far the most superior coffees on the market. Their varieties will satisfy a wide array of tastes. They are also environmentally conscientious. Their cups are 97% biodegradable but that in absolutely no way compromises the quality of the coffee or the quality of the actual cup itself. Some reviewers complained of beans pouring into their cup or damaged cups. I've never had an issue with either and I've been using San Francisco Bay for about 7 years now.

On to the different flavors. Following, are my favorites and why.

French Roast - my wife and I love a nice strong cup of coffee. The French roast provides a robust flavor while minimizing any bitterness. For a good water-upper this is the coffee for you. Even with a dash of creamer. It still maintains its strength of flavor.

Breakfast Blend - a milder coffee with still great flavor. This is a good cup for blonde coffees if you prefer creamer. It's also the best flavor for freezing if you enjoy iced coffees. I'll use these coffee ice cubes for both Breakfast Blend and French Roast iced coffees.

Espresso roast: This is an excellent cup of joe. I would rate this second only next to the French Roast. It's not as strong is the French Roast, but is has a slightly different yet still pleasant aroma and flavor.

Kona Blend - Kona is an expensive bean and rightly so. It's by far the best coffee available, however because it's so expensive it's usually provided in a blend form to keep this costs down. So SFB cups provide a really good Kona cup that pairs well with cream and sugar or flavored creamers. It's slightly stronger than Breakfast Blend, but it the accompanying bean does give it a slight bitter bite.

Fog Chaser - this ties with the two previous coffees. It's a strong coffee flavor but doesn't pack the punch that French Roast does. It's the second strongest, in my opinion, and keeps its coffee flavor through the addition of cream or sugar.

Hazelnut Creme - back in my Army days I drank coffee black. My wife introduced me to hazelnut creamer and I loved it. Since then my coffee preferences matured (thank goodness!) and now I like great tasting coffee. I've all but stopped using hazelnut creamers in favor of more milder non-flavored creamers. So when I saw hazelnut coffee I thought it would be fantastic. Not so much. I love hazelnut, but this coffee is unusually bitter and has a strange aftertaste. I don't buy this cup anymore.

Donut shop - something weird about it. It tastes like watered down coffee. My wife agrees with this statement. It's very weak and if you add creamer to your coffee you're basically tasting creamer with a bit of coffee. But if you don't need a strong cup of coffee and just want a casual drink, this might work for you.

When I provide a product with five stars it means I won't look anywhere else if I need it again. I've tried dozens of different brands and different coffees over the years and no one comes close to San Francisco Bay K-Cups. Pick a flavor profile you like and you won't be let down.
