EXTRA GRIP: The latex rubber backing provides additional grip under your area rugs to help prevent slipping, sliding, bunching, and wrinkles during everyday use. (area rug not included)
RECOMMENDED USE: Larger area rugs, over 5x8, with latex backing provide the best non-slip functionality. For added non-slip grip to scatters, runners, and other smaller area rug sizes under 5x8, it is recommended to use rug tape or non-slip corner tabs to help prevent slipping and sliding in high traffic spaces.
CUSTOMIZABLE SIZING: Simply score the surface and trim your rug pad with scissors to fit any area rug size or shape. For the 3/8” and 1/2" thick rug pad options, it is recommended to trim the pad 2” short of your area rugs perimeter. For the 1/4" thick rug pad option, it is recommended to trim the pad 1” to 2” short of your area rugs perimeter.
FLOORING TYPES: For carpet, simply place the rug pad under your rug with the felt side down. For hard surface flooring, place the rug pad under your rug with the non-slip latex rubber side facing down.

    This is the second Mohawk rug mat that we have purchased. They are well made, and are easy to cut down to the size you need. The rug stays put once placed on the mat. We have a very thin washable rug, and the mat has great padding making it well cushioned to walk on. The non-slip side works well on the tiled floor.

    I had purchased a 4x6 faux fur rug. It was wonderfully fuzzy, but had absolutely no padding, and the smooth backing was slippery as ice. I tried a different anti slip pad first, but the rug kept slipping off the pad. This pad solves all the problems. It is exactly 4 x 6 feet. It is just shy of a half inch thick. ( I was going to get the 3/8 inch, but for the price, I decided to upgrade. I’m glad I did. It’s good padding, but I think anything less wouldn’t be adequate.) The 1/2 inch padding is thick enough to make it comfortable to sit or kneel on the floor. (Anyone can stand on these, but if old knees are comfortable, you know it’s good.)
    What’s really amazing is that—as advertised—the bottom surface holds fast to my laminate floor and the top surface holds the rug safely in place.
    The rug itself has uneven edges (it’s supposed to look like a fur rug) so I’m going to eventually trim the pad to more evenly match the rug. Previous reviews suggested that it is easy to trim. If I have any problems, I’ll update this review.
    Otherwise, I’ll say—especially from someone who had been shopping for a good pad for a while—this is an excellent non-slip pad and is excellent quality for the price.
    Edited later to add: Well, I came back to add an update, but I never actually posted this review. So, I’ll just add and post. Several weeks later and I’m still very happy with this pad. But I did want to add a note about trimming it. As mentioned above, the rug I have on top of the mat is not an exact 4x6. I needed to trim about an inch off the length and an inch off the width of the pad to make it fit underneath the rug perfectly. But it was not easy! I tried every kind of scissors I had in the house. A box cutter just shredded it. Finally, my guy came around with some industrial scissors (they looked like tin snips, but I don’t think that’s what they were) and his much stronger hands than mine, and he was able to make a nice, neat trim. With the right tool and the right user, the mat trims nicely with no fraying. I’m going to guess, when they show the picture of the mat being cut with regular scissors, it’d probably the thinner version and not the 1/2 inch.
    Still, very happy with this product!

    Really a high quality and must-have pad for an area rug. Had to trim the length of mine about 6" as it was a bit longer than our 8x10 carpet, but that was easy to do with a box cutter & straightedge. The non-slip backing on this really helps, as it stays in place while laying the carpet. Great product from Mohawk!

    This is the best rug pad I've ever purchased. Bottom is rubber and top is some mix of recycled felt and super "grabby" texture. I got the 8x10 for a new rug and it fulfilled my expectations and will protect both the rug and the flooring beneath, as well as keep the rug from slipping from position. It is a massive step up in quality from the common white waffle rug pads -- there is just no comparison. I knocked a point off for the smell (LOL), as it is pretty stinky of chemicals. Spread out without the rug on it, it dissapated fairly well in 24 hours, but was still there somewhat when I put the rug down. With the rug in place, I no longer smell it. I did have to trim the edges since my rug was somewhat less than 8x10, and it was a firm material to cut, but I just used my heavy duty scissors and made quick work of it. I do highly recommend this product -- even with a couple days of stinkiness!

    Grips well on our tile floor and provides enough cushioning to make it comfortable to walk across the rug. Easy to roll out, install and trim to fit to our rug.

    Got this to use under a thin 9x12 rug. It's very plush-feeling. It stays put very well but I've also got furniture on top of it so your mileage may vary.

    It's pretty easy to trim with scissors although your hand WILL get tired on the long sides.

    I supplemented this pad with scraps I had from another pad (same thickness and brand) and had no issues. I taped them together with clear packing tape because that's what I had on hand and it worked fine.

    I highly recommend this pad if you're trying to elevate a thinner rug. It's very comfortable to walk around on.

    This rug pad is a perfect example of "less is more." It's not fancy, but it provides exactly what I need: reliable grip and a bit of cushioning.
