Truly a remarkable window AC unit. Goes beyond our expectations in terms of cooling ability. We have a 1400 sq foot home. We mounted the unit in our kitchen window and use it primarily to cool the kitchen/livingroom area which is about 700 sq ft, closing off other rooms in the house. It keeps these areas crispy cold. We had intended to buy a second unit to use in another part of the house, but even on a very hot day (it gets into the high 90's here), we can open up some of the other rooms if we are going to be in them, and once the primary area is cooled down, this little unit keeps the temp in the auxiliary rooms very comfortable. We use ceiling fans and table fans to draw the cool air into the other rooms. We don't see a need for a second unit as long as we are careful about how often we open up additional parts of the house.
My only commentary is about the sales pitch they give this thing concerning the noise level. Yes, it is very quiet, but the notion that it is barely audible is just silly. The fan makes a noise, as one would expect. And you can hear the compressor, just slightly, even through the closed window. But compared to other units we have used it is spendidly quiet! The install was relatively easy, too.
Looks good, works wonderfully, consumes less power by about a third compared to the unit we replaced. Time will tell how well it holds up. Hopefully we will get years of quality service out of it.
It's important to note that there is a lot of condensation off the unit because of the humidity outside. My only complaint about this AC is that the water that runs off isn't directed anywhere and just drips off the bottom of the unit and runs down the support bracket and onto the wall, even though we have it tilted toward the outside. I rigged up an aluminum diversion panel underneath to channel the water away from the wall and into a bucket. It generates about a gallon or more of water over the course of seven or eight hours. So be aware of any downstairs neighbors, etc. If there were a pan and a drain hose to properly control and direct the water this would be the absolute perfect AC.
And by the way, no one paid me to write this review. This is my honest opinion.
