5.0 out of 5 stars Great taste, but know what you are getting

We live in an area where the tap water Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) measure about 330ppm. We have high calcium content (hard water) and occasionally get visible contamination ("yellow" water was reported in local water systems in early December 2023). Since we rent this house we won't purchase a water softener, whole house filter, or under sink system for it. That said, we purchased the ZeroWater 40-Cup Ready-Pour 5-Stage Round Glass Water Filter Dispenser and started using it in August.

The life expectancy of a filter depends on the TDS of the water you are filtering and what exactly you are filtering from the water. The photo I provided is from the dispenser documents and shows that our filter life is expected to be 8-10 gallons. Unfortunately, we get about 6.1 gallons per filter. Not in the expected range, but not far off. Each stage of the filter is designed to perform a slightly different function so the filter can be used in many places, regardless of the contaminants being filtered. We're just unlucky in that one or more stages are becoming saturated before the expected life is done, so we get fewer gallons of 0ppm water.

I looked at most of the 1-star reviews and I understand their frustration, but none of them posted their starting TDS value. Also, having accidentally purchased a knock-off filter with nearly identical packaging, I suspect some of them were reviewing those filters.

ZeroWater is pretty expensive. as I said, we get 6.1 gallons out of each filter (about $2 per gallon, about twice a case of Aquafina at Sam's Club). However, the knock-off gave us only 3.7 gallons (which means ZeroWater filters over 60% more water). Look at the life expectancy table and with five stages, expect about a 20% or more variation in the life of your filter.

I wish filters were cheaper, or that we got 20 or more gallons out of a single filter. There are alternatives, such as bottled water, or installed whole house filters of under sink reverse osmosis filters. Decide what works best for you, understanding that a company like ZeroWater can't go to every municipality and test the water TDS and actual chemical contents to give you an exact life expectancy. I will continue to buy ZeroWater until I buy a house, when I plan to install that whole house filter and water softener (which will also not perform exactly as advertised, but will probably do an adequate job for the price).

I like zero water filters bc they seem to do a pretty good job of filtering water and is easy to discern when to replace. They do not seem to last as long as they advertise, but they are much cheaper than bottled water.

My second zero water filter by Culligan, works much slower than the first ; the zero water filter now takes over an hour are so to filter water, it act like the filter is not working at all, but the water is slowly moving and stile yet taking to long to filter. When I got my first zero water 23 cup picture ; the filter came along with it work very well and it move the water fast , within 3 minutes I can add more water and can continue the process every 3 or so minutes. Now I am waiting for the water to filter through so I can add more. I am shark at production of this second water filter that I just got from Culligan: I am kind of please or somewhat not please :

This filter works so well!! We have hard water at our home and the water tastes so much better with this filter and it’s good to know that we aren’t ingesting any of those chemicals. This filter does take out the minerals in your water so I do add some sea salt to each glass of water to replenish mineral content. I love the Celtic sea salt for that. Overall this is a great product and easy to use. Has not leaked and works great!!

4.0 out of 5 stars The best filters out there!

I love the ZeroWater system, the water tastes amazing, so much better than any other system I've tried.
I have to change the filter every 1.5 weeks, which adds up unfortunately, I'm not sure if my wife and I just drink a lot of water or the quality of the product is not like it used to be. Once the filter stops working, the water that goes through it starts tasting a little sweet at first, then sour and fishy. The most recent filter that I replaced completely stopped working after a week, which has never happened before, so I accidentally overfilled the container, as the water didn't drain from the top part after 2 hours.
As much as I love the taste and quality of the water, I can't give it 5 stars because of the lack of longevity and high price of the filters.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a very good water filter

I have used this product for years. Zero Water is easy to use, it's effective, filters are readily available, and the cost is reasonable. I used to use Brita but after doing some research I saw that ZW filtered out more substances so I switched. The filter does clog sometimes and then I have to bang the pitcher on the counter or bang the side of the filter with a dinner knife handle (do not use a sharp knife!). This only happens once in a while and is easy to fix.

5.0 out of 5 stars Updated to Defective or Knock Off ?

Update: I called and spoke to the Zero Customer Service Rep, she walked me thru a couple issues, one being the filter not entirely and tightly secured, causing leakage of unfiltered water into the pitcher. Which also needs to be washed and dried entirely before using new filters and adding in zero filtered water into an uncleaned container.
Back to zero happy to report and update. Great customer service.

Heads up. There is something wrong with the filters. I purchased the 12 pack in April, (which now no longer has an open window to return them,) and fresh out of the plastic packaging, FIRST time use, the filter reading is 60, NOT 0.
Today is the second day and the meter reads 93!
Will be calling Zero directly tomorrow and trying another new filter while I'm on the phone with them, if I get to speak with a human. Otherwise I will more than likely be switching to another water filtration system. I'm really upset with this WASTE of $, and have been a long time satisfied Zero customer up until this point.
