5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for dining room fixture
Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2024
Saw these on sale and decided to give them a chance. Glad I did! This was my first foray into smart lightbulbs. They helped solve a particular problem in my apartment. My dining room light fixture is controlled by a non-dimmable Z-Wave smart switch. I don't have control over the hub, so I can't replace the switch. Not without incurring the wrath of my landlord, anyway. Not being able to dim that light was miserable.

Smart bulbs ending up being an ideal solution. The Kasa app works great, and is almost as convenient as a physical dimmer. Sometimes it's better, since I don't have to get up from the table. The app *does* allow three bulbs to be linked and dimmed as one, which is essential for my application.

Setup was easy as well. Each bulb starts in access point mode. First you log into each one and give it your Wi-Fi credentials. Then you add them in the Kasa app and group them as needed. Very slick.

These also excel as lightbulbs. Color temperature is perfect. The 90+ CRI rating is believable. Dimming is smooth and incredibly fine grained, with no flickering at lower levels. I can dial in anything from candlelight to full light suitable to work by.

I've been using these bulbs daily for five months, with no issues. I'm very pleased with them and would buy them again in a heartbeat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Automate your touch lamp!
Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2024
I ordered this for a touch on/off lamp that's behind my couch and kind of tricky to reach and touch but I really liked the lamp amd didn't want to replace it. Well, since it doesn't have a normal on/off switch, a smart plug didn't work for it. I was ready to tear the lamp apart and rip out the electronics to make it a normal lamp when I came up with this idea and boom! Works perfectly. The 2700k color temp is perfect (I'm very picky about this) and the dimmability is great. Was very easy to set up on our wifi network and had no issues connecting to the Alexa app.

Great smart bulb, easy to set up. Took less than a couple of minutes to setup. Been performing flawlessly so far. Much better than the no name smart life setup I had before.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well with Google Home
Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2023
I'm looking for a cheaper alternative to Phillips Hue lights, and decided to try these. Integration with Google Home was simple, just link the profiles together and you have voice control. My only gripe with these compared to the Hue branded ones is that these do not dim with as much control as the hues. You can basically dim to three levels, not as granular as the 10 with the Hue bulbs. Overall, good lights, cheap, I'll continue to buy them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product

Love love love these bulbs! Set up is easy with the app which is super user friendly. The best thing about these bulbs is that when the power goes out, they reset as soon as the power comes back and Wi-Fi becomes available. I also forgot and turned off the switch, but a few seconds after I turned it back on, the bulb reconnected to the internet. So unlike the Roku bulbs I bought, which after two power outages, did not reset. Two are working as plain old regular bulbs and the other two refuse to work any at all. I just bought two more kasa bulbs and plan to keep buying every few months as long as the price remains good. I highly recommend!

This smart bulb was easy to install. I keep my ceiling fan running all summer and the smart bulb will make it so I don’t have to stand on the bed and turn the light on when I need it. I’d definitely recommend!

3.0 out of 5 stars Need new firmware to work on larger networks as of 2021-09
Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2021
Update 2: After almost a month of back and forth with support I finally got ahold of an engineer. The Engineer was very skilled and systematically helped look and check a number of settings and ended up with the resolution of downloading a Beta firmware and loading it onto the first bulb. I completed the remaining updates and so far has been stable for a day. Lots of work to get to this point, I hope they roll out a general update soon. Update 1: Previously I had tried after reading a few reviews, I can confirm what others have found out that if you have a larger home with many Access points, or mine that is old and has heavy plaster walls so I have multiple AP's These WILL NOT work. There is a bug in the bulbs that will not allow them to connect if you have the same SSID broadcasting on multiple AP's. As a test I setup a single AP, with a new SSID and connected my phone and the bulb to that and it worked just fine, however that solution is not a great one. I don't want to setup a separate SSID just for these bulbs on every AP as well as my main SSID. Original review: So I'm 0 for 8 on these lights now unless I use the work around. 2 got so far to upgrading the firmware when they would start, then drop off the network and change their name to the default TP-LINK_Smart Bulb_XXXX then become greyed out and unable to connect again. The other two got to the point there I could rename them then you would get the "something went wrong" and they could never rename them. All 4 actually got stuck at that point but turning two off and on and waiting for them to flash did the trick and they were able to get past that. But I'm an hour and 10 minutes in and so far these are pretty much junk compared to the MANY other TP link switches, dimming switches, plain, and 3 way, many of the plain switched outlets, and 8 or so of the power metering outlets, metering surge strips, the plain 3 outlet surge strips, a couple of the outdoor outlets as well as a couple of the color changing bulbs. Pretty much EVERYthing else from they is awesome working in great harmony with Alexa, and some basic IFTTT simple scripts. I'm about the click another bulb off and on with a second between each power cycle to reset it again, then I will have another 10 minutes to contemplate at it tries to connect to the network again. Hopefully this is a bad batch and has some faulty firmware. My other gripe is for TP-links support is if you send an email, you will get 1 and only 1 response per day, luckily the one previous faulty product I had was from Amazon and I could return it for full refund from them otherwise TP link was going to charge to return. 2 hours in, I'm subtracting a star as these don't even function as light bulbs even once they have flaked out. They have an annoying blink maybe once per minute. I have documented my findings and troubleshooting steps and opened a ticket. I was SO positive about how well all my TP link gear has worked so far that I already tossed the boxes into recycling and I just went to fish them out of the can.
