I will come back later and leave a review once I use it. BUT my old miter saw is a 10 inch Ryobi. Very small...and lightweight. Easy for this old gal to carry in and out of storage but it had all kinds of things wrong with it. Never got straight cuts from it..locking handles broke. It was a mess. So I bought this due to the price and everything it offered, I wanted. Well I got it shipped to me and DANG..its VERY heavy and VERY big. I was not expecting that at all.

I waited to have help to move it. In the meantime, I built a solid wood table to sit inside of a small metal shed. Bought shed just for the saw. Sigh. Anyway...built heavy wood table to fit...drilled holes into table and bolted saw to table. It aint going nowhere now. BUT the shed being small..i knew a 2x4x8 wouldnt fit in the shed..soooo I cut a hole in the side of the building to be able to run a board out the side...then i covered the hole with a rubber type flap. I have not used the saw yet since its only been a week...but it looks big and scary. LOL I am use to using small tools. I still need to learn to use it but it looks pretty simple. I will update once I have used it...but I am happy with my purchase so far. The shed..thats another story. UGH.

I can say one thing..this will be alot better for cutting small plywood type projects or 2x6 or larger boards. I dont like using hand saws. I can never get a straight cut. My hands arent that strong to hold on like that. Maybe I needed a table saw too. Thats next and sawhorses. For yrs I have used crappy plastic cheap sawhorses that fall down on me all the time and no place to cut. an uneven yard is the best i have.
But I am excited to finally have something descent to use...as i said..i will update once i have used it for a project.

UPDATE: Have cut a few boards and used the bevel also....works very well. I like it. Still learning all the knobs but it is good. I am happy with it. (I added pics)

This is a really good saw. I was very impressed on how easy it was to use and very accurate cuts. Price was awesome compared to other saws that do the same.

This saw was a replacement for an old Delta compound mitre saw and what a tremendous upgrade. Smooth cuts, great function on the slide and the head, and nice easy setup. For what this saw costs, you really can't beat it. Yes it's big, it's bulky, and it's heavy, but I am not lugging it around to job sites and setups in difficult places. I just use it for project work as a home-gamer. I have been using it mostly outside, so I can't talk about the shadow line yet, but my cuts have all been very accurate with basic measuring tools. It needs clearance to use both in the rear and all of the sides, but this is not unusual for other saws, or a deal breaker. For the price, if I get 5 years out of it, I will be very happy. Bonus, if you register the thing with Skill you get a 3 year warranty, so that is pretty good for a power tool these days. Overall, great value for the money.

I wasn’t too thrilled about needing to spend $250 on a saw just so I could have a double bevel, but this was well worth it.

It’s got all of the normal stuff you would expect and the adjustments feel like they should last a while but on top of that, the shadow guide is excellent. I’ve only ever had lasers before but this is significantly better.

Even better, I didn’t even have to make any adjustments to the squareness of the blade or fence and the 45 degree stops were already set. It’s rare to find anything accurately preset from the factory, so that was a definite plus.

I highly recommend this saw to anyone doing trim work

Saw is very accurate and easy to use.
Basically within 10 minutes of unboxing and some simple assembly you are ready to go to work. Slide feature is smooth and shadow guide line is a very nice feature, takes the guess work out of where the blade will land.

this is an amazing miter saw, its built solid and heavy duty. i can cut a 12” board with its 10” blade because of the the fact its a sliding saw. best saw i ever had. skill does make great affordable tools. i am happy with this saw. everything about it is good.

The Skil 10" sliding miter saw is working great for me. I'm doing a stair tread and riser refresh using the cap-a-tread product. There's no way I could have done this without a sliding miter for accurate crosscuts where the tread overlay meets the stringers. Every tread is slightly different and this tool cuts perfectly accurate miters every time. The laser shadow line is a life changer! Align the shadows of the teeth against the cut line and you get amazing accuracy. Overall the tool is very well built from quality materials. The 10" size significantly reduces the weight vs a 12" model, which is important to me also. I bought the recommended stand too and that contributed to my good experience. I highly recommend the 10" Skil.
