5.0 out of 5 stars Great linear rails for a great price

I recently bought a stereo microscope head and needed a stand for it. The best stands are double arm boom stands, which use two linear rails. I have a 3D printer, so I figured, why not just build one? Looking at McMaster-Carr, linear rails and pillow blocks are EXPENSIVE. I looked elsewhere online, and they still weren't anywhere near what I wanted to pay. So then, of course, I checked Amazon and found these. I probably could have gotten away with the 16mm rails for my application, but I decided on the 20mm x 1m.

First of all, they're super heavy. I guess that should be expected. They have a nice coating of oil on them, which seems to get on everything like anti-seize does - nothing a little brake cleaner can't take care of. The rails are straight and have a nice polish, and they measure 20mm +0.1/-0.2. The ends aren't chamfered, which would have been preferable, but that's an easy fix. The pillow blocks seem well made, with recirculating ball type bearings in them. Putting the two together, the blocks slide nicely on the rails, though they're a bit loud. The dust seals on the blocks seem to be well-fitted and there's no discernible play in the bearings.

I need to cut these rails down, and I did so using an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel. I then polished and chamfered the ends with a 120 grit flap disc. Cutting took a couple of minutes per cut. You could probably do it with a hacksaw but it'll take you all afternoon. Out of curiosity, I tried drilling into a piece of the rail and I was able to drill without too much problem, so the rails aren't too terribly hard.

Overall, these are a great choice if you need a set of linear rails, pillow blocks, and mounting blocks. I'll be posting my build to Hackaday and thingivese, and I'll be recommending these rails to anyone looking to build their own microscope stand.

Good quality for the price. Mounted them on router table. I can now machine top and bottom for my wood working projects. Not for high precision work.

Bought the SRB20-1000 and SRB20-1800. Was having problems getting bolts into the SRB20UU bearing holes. Document said M6-1.0. Had to run a bottom tap into each hole. Had a lot of material clogging up the holes as you can see on pics. Got all 32 holes retapped and unit went together well. Slides work well with little to no drag. Not saying don't purchase, just saying have a M6 tap on hand and be prepared to spend a half hour retapping each hole.

I wanted a better, more ridged platform for the Y axis on my CNC machine, this worked great. Yes they are upside-down.

I ordered two sets of linear rails from Vevor. There was a defective part and it seemed like a waste to return the whole heavy package for just a small part. I contacted Vevor directly from their website to discuss getting a replacement part. Their associate apologized for the inconvenience and immediately set up to get a replacement part sent to me. While getting a defective part is no fun, they stood behind their product without question. Five star service. Thank you.

Product seems great for my intended usage. I built a slab flattening sled with these and a pair of 87” SBR 20 rails. Nice and smooth in every direction. Will see how they fare after some chips are flying! ????

I bought these to fabricate a slab flattening jig and they work perfectly. Just like the jigs that others are selling but at a fraction of the price. They glide smoothly and accurately. Should last many years.

These a heavy duty linear rails with matching bearing blocks. If you mount these as pairs, you best align them perfectly parallel as the bearing complain if misaligned. Be very purposed in your alignment.
