As far as quality, this is a nice piece. It's museum quality. The resin is clear and you can see all of the bat clearly. If you hold it in the sun, you can really see every detail. But, I also kind of hate myself for having it.

It didn't occur to me prior to receiving it: Where do they get the bats? Surely there's not someone in a cave somewhere sifting through guano and roaches to find the carcasses. Are they breeding them just to turn them into tchotchkes? Are they catching them and then killing them for these paperweights? I'll be honest. I kind of wish I'd never chosen this.

The only factor saving me from overwhelming eco guilt is knowing that I will have this forever. As an amateur biologist who frequently gives presentations and teaches children about conservation and nature, this will serve as a handy reminder of our impact on the natural world, and let kids see an elusive animal up close.

I got this for my niece who is super interested in animals and anatomy and learning all the different parts and how things work - she is fascinated by it all.

When I got this - I was surprised at how small it was. I know the dimensions were in the listing - and I wasn't disappointed in the product - but more surprised by how small the little bat was. Still a ton of detail - from the little feet to the mouth. The acrylic is crystal clear. Has a nice little gift box too.

I do wonder where this little guy came from and how he came to be immortalized in this acrylic. They claim it only gets set in the acrylic after dying a natural death - but who knows how you find a bat that died a natural death.

Either way - cool little product. I am guessing if you are looking at this item and the reviews then you are interested in it...you won't be disappointed.

This item sits amongst other oddities in my macabre collection, and it's one of my favorite pieces now. The resin or plastic is crystal clear on my example with no detectable impurities, bubbles, nor any other imperfections. The bat is well preserved and in life like condition. I did add some small clear rubber feet so the plastic/resin doesn't get scratched up on the bottom. Whether it's for a science class or a new addition to your macabre collection, this item is of great quality and at MUCH better price than what my local oddities shop is asking for similar items!
