Bought this as a gift for a 6 year old, with the smartphone adapter piece, and I wish I bought one for myself, as well. It is such a cool item that all the adults at the party took turns playing with it, too! The camera adapter is awesome because you can teach the child how to use it while also admiring the microscope for yourself. If you have multiple children or smaller children who may not quite get the hang of using the microscope, I highly recommend spending the extra few dollars for the camera adapter. It's beyond fascinating.
