5.0 out of 5 stars My new default birthday present

You never have to sharpen it, because you can quickly and easily replace the blade, and the blades are cheap. The knife is also inexpensive, although not cheap at all. It looks classic, and the safety is something from a high-end knife. They found a way to make a utility razor look like a regular knife blade. Because it's light and small enough to fit in my watch pocket, I always have it with me, so I can use my larger Emerson EDC for tougher jobs, and use this thing for opening packages, cutting cardboard, and all the other little day-to-day tasks that take such a toll on knife blades. Now every time a gift is called for (e.g., a birthday), my first thought is to give one of these. It's just too bad there's no way to make bulk purchases.

Got it for my wife and ended up wanting one but haven't got one yet.. seems very well made and the wife has been using it for the last 2 weeks and says it works just fine and it's so easy to change out the blades... me I ended up getting this and the Gerber pry bar with the clip from the actual Gerber site... I gave her the choice between the two and she said this one was more her style which go figure pink donut????.... overall for the price of the tool I say it actually a good buy at a decent price the lock up is good being able to hold it comfortably is good the fit in the pocket is awesome and they have a sharp blade when you need it can't beat it????????

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the knife you have been looking for!

Working in a warehouse requires equipment that can be used and reused. Box cutters are imperative and I have gone through tons of different brands and styles over the years. Milwaukee, DeWalt, Snap-On, Craftsman, Hart, Olfa, Anvil, Gerber....and everything in-between. Up to this point the small lock back by Milwaukee was my personal EDC. Small and lightweight, yet very durable. It has a deep and strong pocket clip that kept it in place. It was also very easy to change the blade.
That said I saw this one and can say with great certainty that it has all the other does and more. Along with having a thumb stock for precision one handed opening, it also features a much longer blade length for using the same utility blades (moreso than the Gerber EAB). And I will say the thumb screw to hold the blade does a great job of holding in the blade with no play and rattling like some "quick-change" cutters. It is also incredibly lightweight but also doesn't feel cheap due to having very solid construction. The machined edges mean it is comfortable to get a solid grip on it to do heavier work if necessary....
.....I could go on and on....
The point is, this box cutter is incredibly well thought out, designed, and built with quality materials and attention to detail. So, as I said in the title, this is the knife you have been looking for!

4.0 out of 5 stars Definitely one of the highest quality utility folding knives around. Ceramic ball bearings!
Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2024
I was really shocked at how well made this Oknife Otacle U1 was when I opened the package. The axis lock was pretty smooth, the action was very smooth. Smoother than I would have expected for a utility knife, turns out it has metal caged ceramic ball bearing in the pivot. The liners aren't full length...probably for weight, but the carbon fiber scales are quite light too. I usually take apart any new knife that I get to clean out any grit or machining bits and all the excess oil. This wasn't really the case for the Otacle. It was pretty clean, but I still cleaned it out re-lubed with Krytox 205G0 to get it super smooth.

I only have a few minor complaints. The axis lock is pretty recessed and makes it's a bit hard to grab a hold of to pull back. This combines with the short length really makes it hard to deploy. I ended up putting a short paracord lanyard on the end just to have something for my pinky to hold on it. But otherwise, this is a great pocket knife that you never have to sharpen. It's even TSA compliant if you toss out the utility blade before you go through the security checkpoint.

5.0 out of 5 stars So nice I bought two
Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2024
I bought one and loved it so much that I had to buy another for my wife. Incredible materials and build quality for the price. Carbon Fiber and G10 scales, ceramic bearings, T6 hardware, T8 pivot. It's a lot of fun and easy to flip open and shut with one hand. The ceramic bearings break in nicely and the knife is super smooth after working it for a few days.

The only down side to me is that the blade changing screw requires a pair of pliers to get fully tightened. I would have preferred a regular screw I could change with a screw driver like a T6 or T8, maybe they could include one in the box in a future model. You could probably get away with the screw being finger tight. But the positive to tightening with a screw as opposed to a push button like most utility knives is that the lockup is extremely tight, almost like a fixed blade when it is open. I might have to pick up more for some family members. The price makes this box opener a no brainer to me.

5.0 out of 5 stars A tough, ergonomic, and innovative tool, that everyone should have!
Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2024
After watching a number of reviews; regarding the Oknife Otacle U1 boxcutter, I decided to snap one up myself. This is indeed; an innovative, and quality item. The tool is made of carbon-fiber, which gives it great strength, and light-weight. Utility-blade is deployed via an axis-lock release. This boxcutter is compact, yet it gives the user, 95 percent more blade-area, than standard utility blades. I used it, immediately upon receipt, to destroy a large cardboard box for recycle. The U1 was flawless, and sailed through the task! This item comes with a handy pocket-clip, and an enclosed lanyard. Blade-change is self-evident, and easily accomplished by a little set-screw. All standard, two-notch utility-blades will fit the Otacle U1. Another plus; is that this will save your EDC knife for other duties. This item has any number of uses: cutting cordage, opening blister-paks, cutting-coupons, hobbies, etc. The price, and ergonomics make this boxcutter a winner. I'm considering, purchasing another one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably buy it
Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2024
It has next to no blade play, is lightweight, very large cutting edge. The locking mechanism doesn't feel quite as good as Benchmades, but it's easily forgivable at the price. It's certainly not as durable as a fastback, but for small tasks, it's perfect.
