5.0 out of 5 stars Best overall utility knife

Nothing is without flaw if you look hard enough. I have not had many issues with this knife so I'll clue you in on my experience,

Pros:
- Folding Function: The blade can swivel open with a flick of the wrist and it feels solid once it's locked. No rattle and no fear of it accidentally closing on you. Retracting is just as easy.
- Blade Change: Tool-less blade replacement is super easy by a compound press and slide lock. I don't often use gloves so can't speak for the ease of use with them on.
- Ergonomics: This is by far the most comfortable utility knife I have used comparing to various styles of those cheap two piece utility knifes. It fits in my hand perfectly and feels more controlled in my hand. I wear size L gloves btw.
-Construction: This thing feels solid. It's got some weight to it and metal in all the right places. The orange part is a rubbery coating similar to those in a cordless drill handle and the plastic feels sturdy as well. Acceptable rattle from the blade I feel as well.

Cons:
- Clip: This thing has been super stiff and useless from the very beginning. It lays too flat to the body of the knife to be able to pry it out without hurting a fingernail and too pronounced from the body to make it noticeable. Not the biggest deal, I've just learned to live with it. Just put it in your pocket and try to ignore it.
- Blade storage: There is no blade storage inside the knife but I never found that to be a huge deal because I rarely find myself needing to change a blade more than once a day. I just flip it and boom, fresh blade. Still, no blade storage if that's important to you.
-Rust: I have seen others mention rust and yes, mine came with a bit of rust on the clip which is unfortunate. The clip is useless to me anyways and a good part of the knife is made of plastic and what I'm guessing to be aluminum on the actual blade housing. Some internals in the swivel mechanism may be corrosive so they might be rusty as well so just something too think about.

Overall, the knife feels well made with a few flaws that don't hold it back enough to put it in the same tier with most knives out there. The one I have is the swivel lock version, so may be prone to malfunction since it has more moving parts although it has never failed on me. For the price of $12-$15, it's a good buy since you pay for the ease of mind when you use it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for small hands

The media could not be loaded.
Fiskars and generally all other hardware companies market their products for people with bigger hands, so it can be a challenge to find tools that are designed with users like me in mind (short person with 6.5” handspan). But I’m an industrial designer who does a ton of prototyping with all sorts of materials, so finding comfortable everyday tools is an absolute need.

My favorite slim body boxcutter is falling apart and it’s never been great for carrying around in a pocket (especially not women’s pockets — when they even exist). So when I saw this new compact foldable style, I punched that buy now button so fast. Most of my utility blades and scissors (for work at the bench or leisure in the garden) are Fiskars, and I love the pro line. But the grip on my friend’s original foldable was always too uncomfortable and bulky for me to get one of my own (and the clip on that one was so tight, it was unusable).

This knife is the answer for everything I asked for all these years! Love how easy it is to stow away, change blades, and flick it out one handed with ease. I’m also ambidextrous and found that the knife feels equally comfortable held by either hand. And it’s no gimmick. The weight of the knife is solid without being super heavy. Cuts like butter and the blade edge doesn’t wear down as easily as other non-CarbonMax lines.

The ONLY minor caveat for me is the location of the hinge release. I have to be extra mindful of my thumb when using my right hand so I don’t depress the button while I’m cutting, especially if the knife gets stuck and I’m trying to get it free. Would be bad getting knicked by the knife if it closes accidentally that way.

TLDR — Pros: Perfect for smaller hands, also comfortable for ambies & lefties, and upgraded portable design. Improved clip compared to the original pro folding knife. Cuts like butter and lasts longer than regular boxcutter blades. Con: Be careful with thumb placement over the hinge release button while you’re working, especially if you’re a rightie.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best

This is my best utility knife and now a gift I give to family and friends. I'm still on my first blade after like a year... Those blades are fantastic. I think this was a project farm purchase. Blade swap is tool-less, easy, and safe. Closing the blade feels sketchy but has been ok so far. Fantastic. So insanely sharp. Fits the hand well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Robust folding utility knife
Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2024
This is the most robust folding utility knife I have ever used. The grip fills the hand nicely in both the forward and rearward positions. The rearward position seems to be designed for the thumb to go along the spine of the knife, as shown in the pictures, which is fine, but not my preferred way to hold a knife. The button lock works as it should, retaining the blade securely with the detent, deploying the blade easily in allowing it to flip out, and then in dropping the blade back into the handle. The blade is aligned to the far right side of the knife in its holder when it is deployed, which can make lining up cuts a little tricky. The only real complaint is the pocket clip, which is pretty much useless. I’m not sure anything larger than a sheet of paper could fit under it. I don’t intend to carry this in my pocket, so I don’t care too much. It’s going in a tool bag. All-in-all, this is an excellent offering from Fiskars, and I would recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great knife. Cheap belt clip.
Reviewed in the United States on May 7, 2024
The knife is great. Very comfortable to hold. Blade is sharp. The belt clip is the only issue I, and others have had. It's very stiff and low on the knife. Makes it difficult to clip to anything. The first one I bought broke trying to get it on my tool bag tape clip spot. The second one I got I removed the clip itself and carefully bent the clip into the correct position. Now it's great and clips easily.
