3M 91252-80024 Chemical Splash/Impact Goggle, 1 -Pack

Date Purchased: December 24th, 2019
Received: January 6th, 2020

Total item cost: $6.27 (Product itself was $5.69, plus $0.58 in tax; shipping was free)

Item arrived within 13 days of ordering with using standard shipping; however, I placed the order on Christmas Eve and of course the next day was Christmas, so no mail delivery. There was also no mail delivery on the Sunday after Christmas, New Year’s Day, then the following Sunday…so poor timing on my part when placing the order. Yet there was no rush needed here for the order, and this was the typical and reasonable waiting time for orders placed on Amazon without choosing any expediated shipping (especially with two holidays and two Sundays involved). The item arrived in a simple sealed shipping bag; this was fine due to the 3M goggles being flexible and not prone to breaking. Further, the 3M goggles come in their own sealed bag anyway, so the packing was a non-issue. (I would rather deal with this simple packaging anyway, as opposed to having a box to break down.)

Upon opening the packaging, there is a slight rubber/plastic material smell. However, products made from these materials are known to have slight smells such as this, so it was not an issue for me. With time, with the 3M goggles being out of the packaging, I am sure this slight smell will dissipate. There are four pieces to these goggles: the soft and pliable (rubber?) clear structure, the firmer clear plastic eye shield itself (which is already set into the surrounding structure), the four hard plastic white vents (already attached), and the black elastic strap (which comes attached as well). The 3M goggles are flexible, and have some give to them, but the eye shield itself is hard plastic; it can be bent a bit, but could possibly break if bent far enough.

The 3M goggles fit fine without any adjustments to the strap at all. Yet if the user needed to adjust the elastic strap, it is quite easy to do. As is, the 3M goggles fit fine on me, so no adjustments were needed. I wear glasses, and was at first skeptical if the 3M goggles would fit over my glasses. To my surprise, they fit over my glasses perfectly, without any adjustments or discomforts at all. There was also no nose-pinching; overall, the 3M goggles fit great and were quite comfortable.

I used these 3M goggles on three separate “projects” in order to test them out before writing this review: cooking on the stove, a wood-working project involving my closest, and washing my dog…

A few years back, I was cooking on my stove making hamburgers and had some grease fly up near my eyes, hitting me in the cheek. After that, I took to wearing some lightweight goggles such as these whenever I would cook such meals. That being said, I tried out these 3M goggles while cooking a similar meal, and IF there was another grease issue where it would fly up, these goggles would have prevented any injuries to the eye. There was no fogging up of the goggles either, due to the four ventilation pieces embedded within the 3M goggles.

I then tried out the 3M goggles while working on my closet. I needed to use a small electric saw to cut off some areas of wood that were causing some problems with the doors closing smoothly. In the past, I would never wear such goggles, and that of course can be risky…these small wooden pieces can fly up and enter the eye, as well as the dust involved. I have been lucky in that nothing had ever happened before with wood or wood dust entering my eyes, but from this point forward I will always use goggles. So, with this closet project, I decided to use the 3M goggles. This was a good idea, since there was indeed a lot of dust and chips of wood; I had some in my hair and dust on my face, but thanks to the 3M goggles, nothing got into my eyes. There WAS some wood dust on the goggles afterwards, but this was easy to brush off. I then rinsed them off and dried them off with a paper towel; easy to clean and wipe off debris.

Finally, I used the 3M goggles while washing my dog. As with the wood-working closet project, I used the 3M goggles instead of chancing it; meaning, I didn’t want to risk getting shampoo in my eye, which can sting. After the initial washing, and then with the dog shaking a lot of the water off, the 3M goggles were quite spotted with water/soap…yet nothing got into my eyes. Again, afterwards the 3M goggles were easy to clean off and dry.

All that being said, these 3M goggles did their job: they protected my eyes. For these types of everyday uses, especially projects around the home such as the ones I described, these are really great goggles and I would suggest them to anyone needing such eye protection. I also want to emphasize here that (because of the ventilation pieces) they do NOT fog up, and that they fit perfectly over my glasses. Further, they were affordable, comfortable, and easy to clean. They appear pretty durable as well, but if they ever broke down in the future I would re-purchase these same 3M goggles. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reliable Eye Protection at an Affordable Price!
Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2023
I recently purchased the Chemical Splash/Impact Goggle, and I have to say, it's an excellent value for the price. As someone who frequently works in the yard, especially when spraying weeds, protecting my eyes is a top priority. This goggle has certainly proven its worth.

One of the standout features of these goggles is their affordability. They provide a high level of protection without breaking the bank. When I'm dealing with chemicals and potentially hazardous materials, knowing that my eyes are shielded is incredibly reassuring.

The adjustable design is a definite plus. It allows for a snug fit, which is crucial when working in potentially dangerous situations. However, I did notice that the nose area can pinch slightly if not positioned perfectly. This might be a matter of personal fit, as everyone's face shape is different. It didn't bother me too much, but it's something to be aware of.

Despite the minor nose discomfort, these goggles function exactly as described. They effectively shield my eyes from chemical splashes and impacts, giving me the peace of mind I need when working in the yard.

In conclusion, I highly recommend the Chemical Splash/Impact Goggle. It offers excellent protection at an affordable price point. While the nose pinch issue may vary from person to person, it's a small inconvenience compared to the overall safety these goggles provide. If you're in need of reliable eye protection for various tasks, these goggles are a smart choice that won't disappoint.

These still fog up badly, and i was advised to remove the top 2 vents, which helped. They also dont seem to fully prevent eye irritation from fumes. Comfort level is great, fit is okay. Visibility is good enough.

I got these for some wood carving, which throws up quite a bit of dust. These goggles are comfortable, well made, and increases your safety over safety glasses per se. You can also wear your reading glasses under them, which is a bonus.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for bigger jobs

Bought these for a project involving lots of bleach-based product. They fogged up very quickly, didn't seal that well to my face, and I was getting a lot of tearing in my eyes due to the chemicals making its way into the goggles. It wasn't exactly the best experience. I wouldn't use these for any chemical that may go airborne. It was comfortable at least, aside from the eye burning effect/tears.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crystal clear view

These were very clear view. They fit over my regular glasses as well. It was really hot outside and they did increase the heat for my head and fogged a bit. I used them to spread calcium bentonite around ants nests and spiders close to the foundation of the home. I am sure there are other reasons I need them. A great tool to keep around. Not just for chemicals but dust too.
