5.0 out of 5 stars Good kit, with some minor flaws.
Reviewed in the United States on April 19, 2021
Everything went together fairly well and the motors worked. They included spare screws and nuts, and that's really appreciated. I did lose one of the screws that hold on one of the sprocket wheels, but since I had an extra I was saved! I suggest anyone building this use some blue(medium) locktight on those screws.

Some very minor complaints:
* Wires on the motors are super thin. Like, 26awg? They do work and haven't melted yet.
* Motor wires were the same color. There is a small marking on each motor so I was able to figure it out.
* The wrench/screw driver were low-quality, but that's fine - they were "free"
* They didn't include a tool for the small bolts.
* I needed to bend a few of the metal parts to make it all fit.

Some notes on my project:
- Raspberry Pi Zero W
- L298N Motor Drive Controller
- 12v lipo battery pack

4.0 out of 5 stars Good enough, but some issues.
Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2019
The product was fairly easy to assemble. Instructions were basically non-existent. It was a bunch of very small pictures with no explanation as to which piece went where. Another problem was that the kit was missing 8 screws needed for assembly that I had to supply. The platform is pretty sturdy, but the drive train had some slop in it that I didn’t expect. I doubt that I would purchase it again, and would probably look elseware.

5.0 out of 5 stars High Quality, Easy Build, and Versatile! - I am VERY Impressed!
Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2018
In Summary: This tank chassis is very high quality, easy to build with included tools, and very versatile!

The product comes shipped very well, parts are compartmentalized in solid packing foam. All metal frame parts protected by plastic bags or wrap, so they are in pristine condition. Using the online instruction PDF provided in the product description, the pictures and diagrams are very easy to follow, and are entirely in English. Assembly takes about 75-90 minutes at a comfortable pace.

After assembly, some brief tests with my bench power supply provide a no-load current at 10 volts of around 600ma, and a stall current of only around 1 amp (per motor). These feel like they have a lot of torque and pulling power! As note, I have the top tensioner wheel a lot lower than in the assembly diagram, so your results may differ. All of the carrier wheels are on sealed bearings for low rolling resistance and long product life. When finished, there are many extra nuts and bolts that can be used to mount your accessories or sensors, or can be kept as spares. The chassis also provides many mounting holes with great flexibility for adding micro-controllers, sensors, servos, speed-controllers, and accessories.

This is a high quality unit, I am looking forward to designing many future projects with this highly versatile platform!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great tank chassis

The kit is perfect, and the texture of the aluminum alloy is amazing. Parts of the frame are wrapped in plastic film for protection, and the quality is very good.
The assembly is also easy, I combined the instructions and the assembly video, and it can be done in about 30-45 minutes, the kit also includes many spare screws and nuts. A really good bang for the buck...

2.0 out of 5 stars Tracks too tight
Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2022
I’ve purchased two of these chassis now and both have had issues driving. The tracks appear to be too tight, making it difficult for the motors to turn. One track on the first chassis is loose enough and treads well. On the newer chassis, both tracks are too tight to move smoothly.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great chassis

I've had it for a year now, and it continues to work great. I used it to build a robot trucking around a cluster of Raspberry PIs with Lidar and other attachments. My payload is around 5 pounds, and I'm running the motors at 12 volts with no issue.
The customer service has been excellent. I've had a couple of questions, and they've answered within a day, providing mechanical drawings and detailed specifications for the motors.
I would recommend this chassis and Xiaor without hesitation. A really good bang for the buck.

1.0 out of 5 stars Product was incomplete when received.

Opened it up to inventory part list and immediately noticed the missing Motor Board. A screw or two?..understandable. But 1 of the 7 largest and easily distinguished pieces...

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice kit...
Reviewed in the United States on April 29, 2019
This is my second robot tank - I also have a DFRobot Devastator...

Fit and finish is good - the anodizing looks great (one are has a small blemish where anodize is lighter)...I got the yellow one due to the quick availability, but now glad I did as it looks really nice...

Some issues to note:
A) the most serious - one of the driven wheel bushings, the part that attaches the sprocket gear set to the motor, had a stripped hole, such that the #3M screw could not hold the gear set on securely - I was able to tap the hole for a 6-32 screw and was then able to tighten it...glad I could fix, since I bet getting another bushing would have been trouble and would take quite a while...also, in this area, I could not get the sprocket drive gears to align well with the non-driven wheels - if I got it aligned perfectly, the bushing was too close to the end of the motor shaft, so, I had to move/offset the bushing in towards the tank body - it's not awful, but I am sure it causes some binding/friction in the drive trains...
B) while the nuts that hold the wheel screws are the locking type, all of the ones for the M3 screws are not...I was able to snug them down and I think they will hold, but only time will tell if they tend to loosen - would have been much better if they had included locking type...
C) you have to be careful not to tighten the wheel nuts too much, or they can bind the wheels/bearing so the wheels do not rotate freely...

One other thing of note, for me, was that the motors are 12V, whereas the ones in the Devastator kit are 6V...I did not notice this initially and wondered why the motors seemed so sluggish when I used a 7.6V LiPo like the one I used in the other tank - I am sure it will run much better when I get a 11.1V LiPo installed! I just assumed, but you know what they say...

Once I get the new battery and adjust my code if necessary to make the two tanks' speed about the same, I can take the them over to my grandson's house and do some battle-bots!
