5.0 out of 5 stars Works great for dropping item onto theatrical stage.

I bought this to deliver a stuffed toy duck into a scene during a play and it was perfect. Someone stood off stage and pressed the remote for the duck to drop from the lighting bar.

3.0 out of 5 stars Meh, works.

It does work, but it does not interface well with all DJI mini models. It seems like a good idea, but other drop systems exist. The range is good on it, but that is the only great positive I can come up with. Installation is hit or miss, not the clearest or easiest to follow, but in the end, you will manage to figure it out.

4.0 out of 5 stars WORKS GREAT...POOR INSTRUCTIONS
Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2024
This remote controlled drop attachment for your DJI drone is a simple product to enhance the fun of flying your drone. Why it was not rated 5 Stars is that the instruction that came with it are terrible and not complete. I found I had to figure out how to adjust the angle of the drop mechanism, what the black button does (on/off and by pushing it you adjust the angle of the hook) and the color of the LED when it is fully charged. With the above negative, this is still a great addition to using your drone.

Unfortunately, I was not able to use it until just recently so it’s sat around the house for several months and therefore it’s not returnable and it took one charge after that I couldn’t get it to charge again just wouldn’t do anything tried all kinds of different things pushing buttons Whatever nothing useless waste of money oh well onward and upward. I don’t recommend it for anybody to try. It’s not super expensive, but it’s not cheap either so I suggest you go pass this one by.

5.0 out of 5 stars very cool airdrop system, works great, great range

This is actually a very cool set up to add to your drone. It is made to be very lightweight, and has its own remote. After attaching it to your drone, you can attach some thing to the hook, And with the press of a button, The hook rotates, to dump the item.

could be useful in many situations. Easy to make small deliveries. All you need is a piece of string with a loop on it, attach it to the item, and over the hook. Then just launch your drone, fly to the intended location, and press the button on the other remote to drop the item. unlimited potential, this thing is pretty cool. The hook is even adjustable, just in case you need a different angle. This thing works exactly like it is supposed to, and very inexpensive. Highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Unsafe With DJI Air 3, Negatively Affected Drone Flight Characteristics
Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2024
I had hopes for using this dropping device with my DJI Air 3 but after a short trial, it’s not worth the risk. The ad states it can be used with a number of drones including the Mini 4, Mini 3, Mini 2, Air 3, Air 2, and Air 2S.

The package includes an airdrop device, remote control, charging cable, rope and hoop. I was curious how the device would fit on the bottom of my Air 3 without blocking the multiple sensors located there. The directions are very basic and offered no suggestions or recommendations. After multiple attempts to use it, I believe there is no safe way.

Anywhere I placed it on the bottom, it blocked at least two sensors. When I started up my drone, I received a warning in red letters stating the sensors for forwards/back, sideways and up/down were not working. (see photo) I shut the drone down, moved the drop device to a new location but always had the same result. Next I snapped on skids and attached the device to the skids. That moved the device about 2" away from the sensors but the result was the same warning. A second problem was that the device is about 1” thick and when it’s attached to the body of the Air 3 drone, it lifts the back legs of the drone off the ground.

I was curious about how the device would affect the flight of my drone. I picked an area clear of obstacles and attached just the device to the drone but did not attempt to lift a package. The drone had no problem lifting off the ground but as several sensors were blocked it began to drift right then left and in all directions and then started gaining altitude though my hands never touched the sticks. I immediately began to correct it’s course manually and slowly lowered the drone to the ground. My experiment was over.

I was hoping to possibly use it for fishing or for other delivery chores but it's definitely not safe for those activities. The drone was stable and didn’t have any problems lifting the weight of the device. I never tried to lift an object so I'm not sure what the payload of an Air 3 might be. There are no directions given regarding balancing the drone and that is another significant consideration regarding the use of this device.

Bottom Line: The device as packaged provides no directions that would allow the device to be used with a DJI Air 3. Possibly with some mods and if the device is mounted a distance below the drone, it might be possible. I gave it three stars as the dropping mechanism works perfectly and potentially could work with the right setup.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worked with my mavic 2 pro

I didn't have too much trouble getting this situated on my drone, I did need to disable the ground collision detection as what ever I had hanging from the unit messed with the detection.

The range is pretty good for what I need and I like the added functionality this device brings to my drone.

I had an opportunity to use this in a pretty unique way, we have tall dead tree in our back yard, I have been using this to carry a weighted line up to the top branches, I drop it over one so we can pull a rope saw up to cut the limbs off. Much easier than trying to throw the line up!

Despite some quirks this is easy to set up and use.
