I have purchased this product before in the past and used them to build a homemade wood lathe. These bearings hold up real well, you have to grease them from time to time but that is usual up keep for anything that spins 1800 rpms for sometimes several hours non stop. I have used my lathe for 3 yrs now and the same bearings on the main shaft, what more can I say other than grease these things and they'll really keep going. I have tried to show in the pictures there are 2 set screws that use a small Allen wrench I think 6mm maybe 7 not sure, these are set at different angles about 90 degrees apart which once tightened down snug really hold to any shaft. I have used a standard 5/8" steel rod and tried to keep both bearings in close alignment. The mounting holes fit a 5/16" bolt just fine maybe larger I'm not sure, the grease fitting comes uninstalled but that's kinda a no brainer and it has a dust cover that slips over the fitting. I have found personally that this dust cover thing pops off constantly and I simply cut the longer portion off and just use the cover/cap it stays in place perfectly well. The cast iron body is a little rough but that's not a deal breaker for me, I don't typically pet my pillow bearings and realistically don't expect them to be slick and smooth. My over all impression is these are really well worth while and a good value for the money and I will purchase them again if needed in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unboxing
Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2024
Solid cast construction with smooth bearings and a zerk fitting for grease, what's not to like?

My latest brainstorm is to build a small decorative windmill, yet the temperature outside is in the single digits so this review will consist of my unboxing versus actual use.

I looked the bearing over straight out of the box for damage or blemishes and found none. I ran calipers over the bearing housing for uniformity and found nothing to be concerned about. Its base is level and its bolt holes are even in size as well. I hand spun the bearings, feeling for roundness and rough spots and again found nothing to be concerned about. There is a Zerk fitting so the bearing can be greased. I’m going to hold off greasing them for now and wait until I have them installed. I couldn’t detect any grease or oil in them straight out of the box. Once it’s up and running, I’ll test it with a laser thermometer to get a better idea of what is going on. The set screws might be 2.5 mm, not 100% sure.

From an unboxing point of view I could find nothing concerning. Fit, finish and rotation all appear good. The true test will take place once these bearings are in use and have been field tested for awhile.
