I ordered the 1/2" Thick 4 Inch X 4 Inch foam because I needed specifically 1/2" for a project. When the foam arrived it was actually 3/8" or 10mm thick. I was dealing with a tight schedule so I didn't have time to return it for another size. I made it work, but the results were not ideal.

Cutting the foam is very difficult. I tried a brand new Xacto blade but it mainly just tore. I had best luck with a pair of industrial scissors but the scissors crushed the foam as it was cutting and left a curved wall on the cut pieces. Maybe a hot knife would work better?
