They say it will have some variance in thickness but mine was pretty close to right on. If it was off, it was maybe less than a 1/16 of an inch. It came with one piece of brown paper wrapped partially around it and bouncing around in a too large box but there was no damage or scratches. That didn't matter to me because of what I was using it for. It did have a very small warp to it but almost barely noticeable. I put it on the floor and you could tell the center was a little higher than the edges. Again, not much but if you are looking for something that needs to be perfect, this may or may not work for you. It made zero difference to me. The warp was maybe an 1/8 of an inch. If you left it out in the sun on a really hot day and laid it on something really flat it would probably flatten out as well. My son bought a different piece of this material from a different online store a year or so ago and this one is of much better quality. Should be for the price because his was almost half of the cost of this piece, but still, this is definitely a higher quality.
