I've had the 10" Knipex Pliers Wrench for 8 years and do appreciate the German quality, strength, and design, however, I was very happy when Irwin came out with their copy after the Knipex Pliers Wrench patent expired a few years ago. I bought the Irwins from Lowes the first week they were available. And then the 8" from Amazon. I love that the Irwins are less than half the price and have the Irwin rapid adjust saw-tooth ratchet action so the jaws can be quickly and easily shrunk down to the gap you want.
The Knipex have a little more precision and slightly narrower jaws but are a pain in the ass to adjust compared to the Irwins, I do suspect the Knipex may be a bit stronger, but I actually prefer the Irwins for general use, love the Irwin's soft, but tough, handle covers, and haven't broken any of my pliers yet. I really like these Pliers Wrench designs and have the Knipex 10" and 5" and with the Irwins, I have two 10" and three 8" tools.
