Comes with a nice strong case. Works great. I had no idea what power I needed but now I have a better idea that I need more like thirty so this is more than I needed. Would highly recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great case, works as well as other pocket microscope

I’ve had a pocket microscope since I was a kid and mine finally clunked out after about 3 decades. Obviously tabletop versions are more comprehensive but not everyone has that space. Had one of those too but had to give it up, went to a good home, and even though I became homeless and all my worldly possessions fit into 2 duffel bags one of those worldly possessions was my pocket microscope. They’re always useful somehow; my view is more pragmatic than toy or exploration (even as a kid). Was able to diagnose fleas in our dog and when I was domesticating one of the strays we helped TNR and she was shaking her head but hadn’t been trained to get comfortable around a carrier I took a swab to find out whether I had to traumatize her again for ear mites (nope, just bad hygiene). This works as well as my other microscope but feels much better in the hand and has a brighter light. I like the shockproof/waterproof case and that the microscope itself has a wristlet but the case should have one too, or even a clip to attach it to something. I’ve let the wristlet of the scope out through the zipper space before it’s closed entirely and that works pretty well. My big disappointment is the slides, I wish they were empty and ready for me to prepare my own slides. Haven’t had slides in decades and have just been using a clear sticker over white paper or a white sticker with a smooth clear cellophane on top (like the kind the lens cloth came in). Seems a waste to have a special slide case and whole storage spot for slides and not have a clean set ready to look at what I want to look at. The fact that it only uses one battery is a real upgrade too. Price seems fair for what it is, all in all great for lifelong observation of the details in our world. I’ve been getting into crystals now and they look pretty cool under the scope, I’m hoping this can help in identifying some, especially with the Uv light.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good microscope

I figured I could use this to help refine my technique sharpening tools. At 120x magnification, I can see every little nick and scratch that I might otherwise have missed. The depth of field is very limited; really only as far as the bottom of the microscope itself. I guess this would make it easier to use for kids, so I'll count that as a feature.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Size and Excellent Magnification for Field Use

I've looked for an easily transported microscope I can use outside, whether looking at insect damage on plants, insects themselves, and more, and I've found it in this slick little product. Now, I can have it handy when I need to check out some critter attacking my plants.

I also plan to use the scope with my other hobbies like electronics, stamps, and coin collecting. With a top light as opposed to illuminating the object from underneath, I can easily inspect opaque subjects.

I like the size (you'll see it in my hand in one photo), the positions of the controls, and the size of the controls. With my larger hands, I am able to manipulate the controls and use the scope with ease. I also like the orange color as it makes it easier to find if it wanders off into the tall grass some way.

The scope feels sturdy and solid. It comes with five prepared sample slides which I appreciate because it lets me get a feel for how the scope works. It is all nestled in a zippered carrying case, comes with a simple manual, and a cleaning cloth.

You'll get the best results viewing a thinner specimen as that allows enough distance between the objective and the specimen to get a good focus. and, if you like, you can use it with your glasses, although I prefer to use my microscopes without them.

When you put the microscope back in its case. be careful not to push it in too far and that will turn on the LED, and if you don't notice, it will drain your AA battery (1 required, none supplied).

If you want a scope to use in the garden, the yard, on a hike, or around the house with your other hobbies, give this one a try.

Could not see through lens. Had bought as Christmas gifts for my great grandsons but happened to open early. Thank God I did. They would have been so disappointed.
