About this item

A Standalone Billionaire, Marriage of Convenience Romance.

You want to know the secret to everlasting happiness?

Never fall in love.

That was the wisdom my father imparted to us James boys after our mom died, and it’s a piece of advice that’s served me well.

Until dear old Dad asks me for a favor over Sunday brunch. No big deal, right? I love making my old man happy. Except this “favor” is a lot more complicated than picking up his dry cleaning. Dad wants me to marry and provide a few heirs for the James empire, and he’s even done me the courtesy of handpicking my bride-to-be. Lucky me.

But if I’m being honest, I’ve grown tired of the endless cycle of dating, the constant small talk, and the ever-shrinking pool of women I haven’t already invited for a sleepover.

I’m a lawyer, so contracts are kind of my thing. And that’s all marriage really is—a contract negotiated between two parties. What could possibly go wrong?

Enter Melanie Edison, the five-foot-four brunette with curves in ALL the right places. A veterinary nurse with the smartest mouth I’ve ever heard. And I have more fun
not dating her than I did dating any woman before, even with Melanie’s absurd no-sex-before-marriage rule.

But when our business arrangement becomes so much more, I end up breaking
my most important rule. And that’s when it all goes to hell.

I have no idea how we can ever repair the damage that’s been done. I’m not even sure I want to. And maybe going back to my old life won’t be so hard.

Except it’s too late. I broke my rule.

And she broke me.

Loved this book. A little bit of laughs, a little bit of heartache, and a whole heap of spice. Perfection. Fun little banter too.

This book had me wrapped in from the get go. And I stayed interested throughout it. I had all of the feels while reading this.

Nathan & Melanie were both great characters. Melanie might be one of my fave FMCs written by Sadie Kincaid now. She was such a strong & smart character. Nathan might not have been a mafia man as Sadie typically writes but he's still as delicious (maybe even more than some of the previous MMCs). I loved his family too. I was a bit hesitant on Dalton, his dad, at first but I quickly grew to love him. I loved Nate's relationship with his brothers too and I can't wait to get to know them better. Especially Maddox & Elijah.

This book is fantastic! Sadie Kincaid continues to give us emotionally charged stories, and this just became her best one yet IMO. Broken is a little different since it’s not a dark romance, but it does still have some emotionally heavy topics so it’ll still take you on an emotional roller coaster. Broken was aptly named cause I was definitely broken and then put back together by this book and I highly recommend it.

Nathan James is someone familiar to readers of Sadie’s other books, and I’m SO glad we got his story! We get some amazing cameos from some of his clients too. He is definitely a complex character, but boy is he such a softie for his wife. Mel’s story was written really beautifully. Her love for animals is so relatable, and her sense of humor is next level good. Their chemistry and banter are insane. These 2 characters are my new favorites written by Sadie Kincaid for sure. I will also never be blessed to listen to “Yeah” by Usher the same ever again btw haha ????

I can’t wait to see what is next for the James family in the rest of this series!

I am completely done for! These characters and this story was so deliciously addictive, I could not get enough. Perfect start to this new series and everything a first book in the series should have. Grabs your attention and keeps you wanting more from the side characters, craving each one of their stories and their HEAs.

Nathan and Melanie’s characters were complete perfection in true Sadie Kincaid way. Loved Melanie for her strength and the way her confidence changed and grew through the story. That girl brought out one ugly cry for sure. Nathan, oh my heart! That man is everything! Sweet, broody, cold Ice Man, vicious when he needs to, dirty talker who can definitely back those words up, and so much more. Had me wishing for a Nathan of my own! Couldn't get enough of these two and their emotional roller-coaster ride.

“Nobody has ever made me feel like this.” I bite down on the soft skin of her neck. “And nobody ever will, corazón. You’re mine.”

It's hard not to absorb every emotion coming from each of these characters. Sadie Kincaid has a great talent to bring her characters to life in each book she writes. Whatever they go through, you feel it with them as if you were right there going through everything with them, and Broken is no exception.

Amazingly written in dual pov with its own HEA. Broken is book 1 in the new spin-off, Manhattan Ruthless series. Can be read as a standalone, but I'm already feigning for the next one.

I am an avid fan of Sadie Kincaid, the characters that she creates are relatable and honest. Nathan James and Melanie Edison are no exception and Broken is one of my top reads of the year.

Nathan James has sworn off love, he’s beyond successful in life and doesn’t need love complicating that. Until a conversation with his father takes a sharp left and all of a sudden he’s talking marriage. Enter Melanie Edison, veterinarian nurse and heiress to a struggling company. They both want the same things - to get their families off their backs and a future that involves children that can carry on the James family legacy. The union between them is supposed to be one of convenience, friendship if they’re lucky.

Love wasn’t written in the contract, but it always has a way of making everything difficult.

Nathan James, this man. He’s intense and honest. From the moment he and Mel meet he lays all his cards on the table and never once tries to play her for a fool. He recognizes her beauty, not just on the outside, but her soft heart and is instantly drawn to her kindness and the love she gives to everyone so freely. He sees her to the core, and I fell in love with the way he catered to her soft heart in so many different ways. I loved the way he found himself falling for her and didn’t do anything to stop himself. I loved the way he was protective and over the top, demanding and oh so intense, and still allowed her to be her feisty self. He never smothered her spirit, he was the one who wanted to see it flourish the most.

Mel is so soft, one of the softest characters I’ve read by Sadie Kincaid. I loved getting to know her. I loved all her quirks and the way she surrounded herself with people who truly loved her and gave it back to them tenfold. She was always so willing to put herself on the back burner, always so willing to take the short end of the stick so someone else didn’t have to. She was selfless, but not in an annoying way, in an honest way. Her past has controlled her life for so long, and she’s willing to pay the price for it until she no longer has to.

There’s a lot of emotion in this book, intense emotion, from one end of the spectrum to another. There were times I was giggling and kicking my feet and times that tears were streaming down my face. The honesty that Sadie Kincaid is always able to deliver is impeccable, I love being able to relate to characters (regardless of the trope I’m reading) and this story absolutely blew me out of the water.

Iceman & Spitfire forever have my heart.
