About this item

January Quinn is a sunbeam in a hailstorm, bringing light and warmth to a place inside me that I thought was destined was to stay dark forever, but making her mine means coming back to the place I swore I was done with. A place that's made it all too clear it's done with me.

I swore I'd never come back to Moonshine Ridge. but my baby sister is getting married and since we lost our father when she was just a baby, I've always promised I'd be the one to walk her down the aisle.

Checking into my room at the newly renovated ski resort, owned by one of the few people left around here that's willing to welcome me back, all I'm thinking about is how soon I can get back off this mountain.

When I see the curvy ski instructor that works at the lodge, it might as well be another punch to face; because there's not a doubt in my mind that January Quinn is mine...and there's not a hope in my heart that I can have her.

This mountain community is Jan's whole life now, but the small town I grew up in is a better place without me in it.

I wish I was still the guy that could break promises as easily as I could break the seal on a new bottle, because the Ridge isn't home any more and it doesn't want me back.

I may have managed to crawl my way out of the bottle, but January is proving to be an addiction I don't have the strength to walk away from.

***

Welcome to Moonshine Ridge and the rugged wilderness surrounding the remote mountain community where the history is long, the local lore is deep, and the men are as wild as the mountains they come from.

Protective, possessive, totally obsessed; the men of Moonshine Ridge will do anything necessary to claim the women they love and give her the happily ever after she deserves.

The Moonshine Ridge books contain a lot of insta-love, some swearing, some steamy scenes, zero cheating, and a lot of swoon-worthy happy endings. They're interconnected with recurring characters but can be read as stand-alones in any order.

This book concludes the series, it is now safe to binge!

Hayle's story hit home for a lot of reasons. He is considered damaged and not welcomed on Moonshine Ridge. January is the ski instructor and is walking down to the resort to grab some tea. When she meets the tall growly mountain man. What she sees is not broken. She sees the survivor. I'm if I was going to like him. Actually I love him as much if not more than the other characters.

Another delicious mountain man who knows how to fall and doesn't take all day about it. This engaging story had a little twist to it, almost making it seem like the HEA might not happen ????. No fair scaring me like that, Ms. Ryder - no fair! Hayley and Jan's story was layered and emotional, sweet and swoony, sexy and smokin' hot. I'm ready for whatever this author has up next.

Beginnings on the Mountain: The Hart Family of Moonshine Ridge is the seventeenth book in the Moonshine Ridge Mountain Men series. We finally get the story of Hayle Hart and his match January Quinn. Both have started over but in different ways. Hayle left the mountain and his family five years ago and has not talked to anyone except his grandmother and mother in that time. He left behind a mess, of his own making over years, but he has gotten back on his feet and made what is turning out to be a big impact on others lives. January was on her way to the winter Olympics for skiing when she was injured and her competitive skiing career was over. She instead started coaching others and has now landed on the mountain at the resort, which is owns part of. Hayle and January meet one night when he is sitting all along in the bar and she recognizes just what that stare means. There is an understanding, a deep understanding, of each other from the start and it is something that cannot be faked. I don't want to say too much about this story are the author has done such a wonderful job of writing it you just have to read and discover this couple for yourself.
I loved this book, the characters and the story. Hayle's story is more rich with emotion than you first think, but it is so wonderfully rewarding by the end. The story matter can be triggering from some readers but is handled is an amazing touch. This is one of my favorite books in this fantastic series.

What a great finish for this family. Hayle Hart has been hinted at and talked about throughout this series as the missing Hart brother who let everyone down by leaving. No one has heard from him in years and when he shows up, Cane decides he should stay gone. January aka Jan is snowed in at the mountain ski resort when she comes across Hayle. He’s sitting alone at a closed bar, bruised and down trodden. She has some experience from her past with just this situation. She walks up to Hayle and that’s it for both of them. Both know this will lead nowhere but their attraction can’t be denied. Getting trapped in a hut overnight cinches it and both feel a deep connection. I loved these characters, loved how broken Hayle was and how sweet and nurturing Jan is. Their missing pieces fit together perfectly. We see several other characters from other books which is always enjoyable for me. My one complaint, if I had one, would be that I wish Cane had realized he’d misjudged Hayle and apologized or January had handed him his you know what by telling him how wrong he was about Hayle. Other than that it was truly perfect I loved this book so much! I received an ARC and am happily leaving my review.

Hayley Hart is back in Moonshine Ridge for one reason only-- to walk his baby sister down the aisle. He promised her he would after their father passed away and he was going to uphold that promise. Only problem is that his family and the entire town don't want him anywhere near Moonshine Ridge or the surrounding area. Only his grandmother knows that he's a recovered alcoholic. That's okay though. His plan is to uphold his obligation and immediately leave town.

January Quinn is a ski instructor at the Moonshine Ridge Ski Resort. During a series of snowstorms that closed the highway, she runs into Hayley in the resort. Despite having heard all of the rumors about Hayley from the locals,  Jennifer decides to strike up conversation. If anything, he's hot and a one night stand would be fun.

Instant sparks of attraction ignite between the two. Can they move past preconceived ideals in order to really get to know one another? They live in different states. Can lust prevail, and with time, morph into love?

In typical Rocklyn Ryder fashion, Beginnings on the Mountain is a quick read full of chemistry, insta-love, and the ever so important,  HEA!  This book is my favorite in the Hart family series. I'm a sucker for a good come back story.

Hayle left the mountain when the crush of responsibility on his young shoulders after the death of his father and grandfather lead him to drink. His mother's side of the family has a history of a tendency to addiction. He has been sober for 5 years, but only came back because of his promise to his baby sister. Just in time to meet January, who he recognizes, as the men on the Ridge do, as his. We also find out that Hurricane was more of an ass than presented in his book. Nice conclusion to the series, with all the Epilogues.

Nice character development in a short time span. I like that unlike all the other wives and girlfriends, January is not a virgin. I thought it weird in the other books that the woman were all virgins, but went from zero to home run in one night.

I read a gifted Advanced Reader's Copy as part of the author's review team. This is my unbiased, honest and voluntary review.
