Dear Reader,

Thank you so much for landing on my book page!

I hope you will love what you find here. At the heart of all my novels is friendship, the kind of relationships between women (and sometimes men) that bonds them together in the good times and in the bad. My characters sometimes experience the worst of life – betrayal, broken relationships, illness, bereavement, heartbreak – but my stories are always about how they overcome those challenges with great friends, the kind who lift you up, tell you brutal truths and make you laugh, even in the moments when there isn’t much to smile about. They capture the very best things about being part of a friendship group or family that isn’t perfect but manages to survive heartaches and come out wiser, stronger and more sure than ever that the people who love them are on their side.

And always, they’re full of real laughter, real tears and real life.

Love,

Shari x

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely Read

When I started this book I almost didn’t read it because of the long list of characters and their relationships to one another. Happily I bit the bullet and jumped right in. I am so glad I did. It was a lovely story of random lives coming together in a series of unfortunate encounters. It was written in a way that made it easy to follow all the characters and ended in a wonderful way. A throughly enjoyable book.

I started reading not sure if I would finish it because the British margin and jokes were unfamiliar and seemed odd to me. But the characters were getting to me and I found myself enrolled in their lives and intrigued as to what was happening in their lives. The plot was amazing! I will definitely read more books by Shari Low.
She is quite the storyteller!

An engrossing story with a lot of twisting turns. The writing is excellent ( one of the most important things to me) and the story moves seamlessly. I highly recommend this book and will be reading more from this author. Enjoy :)

A delightful story about a group of people who find their lives weaving together in unexpected ways. Four stars for Shari Low's "One Long Weekend".

Aunt Val lost the most precious things she owned on a trip to visit her nieces. Four rings she treasured belonging to people who were no longer with her.

Sophie is going to see if she can locate the only man she ever loved. In a whirlwind romance, Sophie found her soulmate, but she had to ask him to wait for her because she had obligations that prevented her from accepting. Two years have passed, and she is going to see if he waited.

Alice has lived a silent life at the hands of an abusive, self-serving, narcissistic husband. She stayed out of fear that he would ruin the life of their son. When their son, Rory, was little he would threaten to take him from her if she left. When Rory was older, he threatened to use his power to ruin his son's happy marriage and cushy job. So, she sacrificed her life for her son to have a happy life. But it all comes crashing down when her husband crashes his taxi and is left hanging on the edge of life, and his toxicology report was positive for alcohol and drugs.

Rory has married into a powerful and wealthy family. He has a top-level job in his father-in-law's company. Rory loves his wife and doesn't take his job for granted. He works hard. To protect his life, his mother has willfully cut all ties with him and he has taken her maiden name for his last name. Rory's wealthy inlaws would not tolerate the negative publicity his father has created during some of his escapades. None of the sacrifices Alice made for Rory matters when Rory's wife suddenly asks for a divorce anyway. He is fired on the same day.

On one long weekend, Val, Sophie, Alice, and Rory's lives intersect at the perfect time. At a time when they could help each other through their toughest times yet.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too much repeated story

I just finished One Long Weekend, and I have to say that it wasn't as good as the other book by Shari Low that I have read (I don't remember the title). I felt like there were too many characters and Val's story kept on being repeated over and over.
