About this item

In the follow-up to award-winning author Alma Katsu’s The Vanishing Man, Russian spy turned informant Yuri Kozlov struggles with his roots, his relationships, and the true nature of his operation.

Yuri’s time at the CIA safehouse is going well. He’s pacified his handlers, going so far as to call one of them a friend. But even as he settles, Yuri struggles with why he came to America in the first place. He traces his present situation back to the mission for Russia that made his name—and that may have condemned his soul.

On Enemy Ground is part of The Spy Who Vanished, a three-part journey into the political unrest that forces Russia’s most famous spy to choose between his legacy and who he wants to become. Read or listen to each immersive story in a single sitting.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Biggest Twist of All

The first book in this series offers plenty of reasons not to like Alma Katsu’s “Russian James Bond,” but then she turns around in book two and blindsides the reader by making Yuri sympathetic. I honestly didn’t expect that. Watching Yuri start to wrestle with whether to fulfill his mission escalates the tension in this story. This series is a fast and exciting story with some well-rounded characters.

This was a great read. I enjoyed the 007 feel and how this was short, but uniquely written. I finished in about 30 minutes.

Three books 35 or 43 pages each. Great
character yet Guru to be wasted this way. These three books should be one with 200 more pages. Such a waste if s great character and story.

Very well written and believable. Plot is well-developed and written from the defector’s perspective. Several side stories give background for some mysterious potential conclusions.

Book 2 really moves you into murky unexpected areas, just like the main character. The lurches keep you and Yuri guessing

I love that each book in the trilogy stands on its own. I didn’t feel like this was a simply a teaser for the final in the trilogy.
