NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

When his passionate romance with nurse Jocelyn Banks is cut short by her kidnapping and brutal murder, young psychologist Jeremy Carrier is left emotionally devastated, haunted by his lover’s grisly demise—and eyed warily by police still seeking a prime suspect in the slaying.

“An unnerving, highly cinematic plot . . . [Kellerman has] headed off into different terrain . . . with striking success in this . . . quick-witted outing.”—Janet Maslin, The New York Times

To escape the pain, he buries himself in his work at City Central Hospital—only to be drawn deeper into a walking nightmare when more women are murdered in the same gruesome fashion as Jocelyn. As the suspicion surrounding Jeremy intensifies, the only way for him to prove his innocence and put his torment to rest is to follow the deadly trail of a modern-day Jack the Ripper.

BONUS: This edition includes an excerpt from Jonathan Kellerman's
Guilt.

Excellent character development. I didn't mind the protagonist being someone other than Delaware. The hospital setting added interest as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Like early Alex Delware

Conspiracy Club is a good mystery before you even know what the crime actually is or who the suspect(s) is/are; the reader spends some time trying figure out whether there has even been a crime.
I have been an Alex Delaware fan since "When the Bough Breaks" but after reading 10 or so there is a sort of predictable if comforting formula. Conspiracy Club was nearly as much fun as the "first time". So while there is a psychologist-protagonist, he isn't Delaware, he has a different set of friends, he is not as personally cool as Deleware and he doesn't live in Los Angeles. And, face it, Saturday Night Live's satire on Californication echos of Alex Delaware's Los Angeles. So, this was a good solid mystery, with lots of good twists, with a different set of characters and context. Fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fascinating change

I've read many of his books and have gotten to know his characters, so not having the usual repartee with Milo was a surprising change, and the story, while still a murder mystery, was much deeper and, if anything, more psychological. I hated to see it end but enjoyed this change.

Read Kellerman’s Delaware series. That series shows his best writing. I could not finish this book, and that is rare for me.

I was enthralled from the first sentence. Jonathan Kellerman is a very accomplished author and well deserves his spot as one of the top thriller writers. I love his writing style, his detailed descriptions and his skill to keep you guessing all the way. I had all sorts of theories, from suspecting Dr Chess and his group in sinister plots and in the end I still did not get it right. Super read. I can highly recommend it.

Another Kellerman therapist. This one working in a hospital. Although it starts with the horrific murder of our therapist Jeremy's girlfriend, it, nevertheless, seemed to drag somewhat in the beginning. I did enjoy how the mystery of the old retired doctor and his friends unfolded. Very well developed. I must admit I missed the camaraderie of having a buddy to help him along like in the Delaware novels. Maybe the old doctor will play a more active role in future.
One thing that drives me crazy in his well edited books is that he consistently, in every book, uses the grammatically incorrect phrase "not hardly." Certainly a trivial thing, though.
All told, however, I will be on board for the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars My first Kindle book and was worth going for it

What else you can expect from Jonathan Kellerman, well a continuous page turner. The only issue was that I could not turn the pages as what I was reading was a Kindle edition :). Not only I would highly recommend this book for all the thrill, simplicity of the characters and the great language but I would also recommend Kindle PaperWhite. I was quite anxious before buying that and was real concerned if it would be able to give the reading experience which you get out of turning the pages but now I can't keep it aside.
