About this item
He calls me perfect.
His flawless pet.
His good girl.
Broken down and wounded by my emotionally neglectful ex, I wanted someone to tell me I was good enough.
Then, I stumbled into a new job with a boss who brings me to my knees—literally. He has me do things a real secretary would never do.
Emerson Grant tells me I’m more than just good enough.
I’m worthy of his praise.
There are a million reasons why I should stay away. The owner of the Salacious Players’ Club is not just my new boss, he’s twice my age.
And my ex-boyfriend’s father.
With him, I am treasured. I am adored. I am his.
I’m a good girl, but I’m falling for the wrong man.
Emerson Grant knows what he wants—
And he wants me.
So how far will I go to hear his approval?

Pros:
I like the author's writing style. It was funny and enjoyable to read.
I liked the dialogue. So often do I read books where the author will create a character one way but then the dialogue the character uses doesn’t match their personality type. For example, writing a don who speaks like a teenaged frat boy--gag! The characters in this book read well and I liked that.
I liked the pacing of the book. It takes a while for the two characters to get together and that made sense seeing as the FMC was the MMC's son's ex-girlfriend.
I like the idea of a woman coming into her own sexual awakening and enjoying her own kinks without the threat of shame. Seeing Charlie grow into her character's arc was nice to watch/read.
I loved Emerson as a love interest. He's stern. Dominant. Confident. Everything the author tried to portray about him, I got. Very impressed.
I felt genuinely entertained while reading this book, and it's been a while since a book has made me feel this good and enthralled while reading it. It was like watching my favorite movie.
I'll give the spice a 3.5/5 ????????????. The spice is really good and not cliche. There aren’t many scenes, which I like because it forces me to focus on the story. The only reason why I don't score it higher is because I have read much smuttier books BUT this has just the right amount.
Cons:
I don't like the author using miscommunication as a means to create distance between the FMC and MMC. It gets annoying, BUT it doesn't take away from the story too much. It's just my hang up.
The narration can get a little repetitive sometimes. I got it. He's your ex's dad and he's older. That's the entire premise of the story. I promise you I didn't forget. However, the constant mention of it made me feel like it WAS wrong when I thought the author was trying to sell me on why it's actually right.
It was odd how quickly Beau changed. I thought the author was writing him one way only for him to turn out completely different. How'd he go from being an absolute jerk to a downright decent ex-boyfriend? Beau's scenes completely threw me off.
In discussing the sister so much, I think I would have liked a little more back story on her OR to see her character written a bit more well-roundedly. Come to think of it, I would have liked more back story on both sisters. Like, why exactly was Charlie so insecure?? That seemed a bit glossed over. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the sister dynamic.
For as much as they talked about the dad, I though I'd get quite a bit more scenes with him in it.
The ending seemed a tad bit rushed to me.
Overall, I think I loved this book. I didn't feel the need to skim through any of the pages (well except for some of the cheesey parts in the end) and I looked forward to every chapter. The book isn't heavy on BDSM, which I think is the point. Ememrson never portrayed himself to be the typical hardcore Dom so it's strange why so many reviews castigate his character for not being conveyed as such.
I 100% recommend this book and look forward to reading more from this author.

The story revolves around Charlie, who, in a case of mistaken identity, is taken for a woman sent to satisfy Emerson’s desires by his business partner. Immediate chemistry ignites between Charlie and Emerson, despite their complicated dynamic. Emerson, desperate to reconcile with his estranged son, offers Charlie a job, even though she is his son's ex-girlfriend.
The multitude of tropes present in "Praise" adds an extra layer of excitement to the story. From age-gap romance and forbidden love to a Dom/sub relationship and the exploration of a sex club, Sara Cate skillfully weaves these tropes together, creating a narrative that keeps readers guessing and wanting more.
The chemistry between Charlie and Emerson is electric, practically sizzling off the pages. Despite their efforts to resist each other, their emotional connection and attraction grow stronger with each passing day. I was captivated by Emerson's genuine care and consideration for Charlie, particularly in ensuring her comfort and happiness. The development of their relationship is beautifully portrayed, making it impossible not to root for their forbidden love.
The sex club scenes in "Praise" are scorching hot and expertly written. Sara Cate masterfully balances the sensual elements with the emotional depth of the characters, creating intimate and steamy moments that leave readers breathless.
Furthermore, the supporting characters, namely the business partners, are intriguing and well-developed. The glimpse we get of their personalities and stories leaves readers eager to delve into their own journeys in the upcoming books of the series.
"Praise" is an addictive and seductive read that will leave romance enthusiasts craving for more. Sara Cate's ability to blend passion, forbidden love, and a multitude of tropes, creates an intoxicating narrative that keeps readers engaged from start to finish. If you're in search of a book that ignites both your emotions and desires, look no further than "Praise," where passion and forbidden love collide in the most captivating way imaginable. Run, don't walk, to add this book to your reading list!
