About this item

Three years.
Twelve months.
A timeless grief.

After losing her beloved sister three years ago, Savannah Litchfield has been living half a life. Now seventeen―the age Poppy died―the pain of losing her is worse than ever. When Savannah's therapist suggests a trip around the world to help teens stricken by loss, she reluctantly agrees to it, clutching the unread journal Poppy left her as she goes.

Cael Woods is angry. One year after losing his older brother―the person who meant the world to him―his life has spiraled into a heady void of nothing. Once the most promising hockey player in the junior league, Cael can no longer step onto the ice without being paralyzed by memories of his brother. When his parents sign him up for a trip abroad for grieving teens, no part of him wants to go―but he does.

As Cael and Savannah embark on a journey of healing, they learn to find solace together, discovering a glimmer of light only the other can bring. And the harder they fall, the more they heal the fractured fragments of their hearts, piece by broken piece.

Oh my heart, y'all, wow. Just wow. I knew this one would ruin and wreck me and leave me a sniffling mess, but still, I was. Not. Ready. Not by a long shot. I’ve never quoted a Dedication before, but when it starts like this, you know you’re in for it:

“For those who have lost a loved one, I walk with you. For those who have lost a piece of their heart, I hold your hand. For those who don’t know how to move on, I pray this book gives you solace.”

The simple fact of life is, the longer we live, the more loved ones we lose, and I’ve lost my share. Still, I pulled up my big girl britches and dove in. I lived – unapologetically, wholeheartedly, and completely – in this story. I’m not at all an emotional reader, but this one forced its way through all my defenses, and I held on tight attempting to withstand the poignant battering. But then I gave in. I gave up. I just was. Utterly, entirely in the story.

Unsurprisingly, this masterful, gifted storyteller gives us beautiful prose brimming with tender sentiment, profound insight, and sage wisdom. And the emotional impact is as stunning as it is unforgettable. This one will rip your heart to shreds, ruthlessly stomp on the pieces, and then carefully, patiently, perfectly mend it.

Let's be real. There's no way to protect your heart from this one, and if you’re anything like me, you'll go heedlessly charging in. Please though, be kind to yourself. Give yourself grace. Set it aside if you need to but then let yourself wholly live in the vast constellation of emotions.

If you’re blessed enough to never have lost someone vital, you’ll have greater understanding of that loss after traveling this road with Savannah and Cael. And if you have known devastating loss, hopefully you'll feel a little less alone and a little more healed after this experience.

One thing's for certain. It's impossible to read this and come out on the other side unchanged. Maybe a little more broken yet carefully pieced back together, but all the more beautiful for it. Don’t miss this story of exquisite grace, stunning beauty, and profound wisdom

This book is beautiful. For me, the first one teaches us more about acceptance of destiny and illness above all. And this second one teaches us how to deal with grief. The different types of grief and stages it can have. That not all of us process it the same way. It teaches us that the right person will be there to support you in getting through it and that it is okay to accept help to get ahead. That we cannot depend on others for that.

Please know that I loved every character in this book, each one very special. And yes, I cried from the prologue to the end.

When I first read A Thousand Boy Kisses, I knew I was in for an emotional roller coaster of a ride. And there were LOTS of tears. Heck, I couldn't pick up another book for weeks because this book had put me in such a grip.

But, like grief, the days moved on, and the feelings went away.

But then I found out there was a sequel coming, and thought "surely, Tillie can't top the original" Boy, was I wrong.

Getting a book through a sister's perspective, after losing her older sister, was truly something I had to read, given that I suffered my own personal loss a year ago when my aunt unexpectedly passed away.

This was sometimes a hard read for me, because I felt every ounce of grief Savannah was experiencing. But then, she meets Cael, and somehow I knew, these two lost souls would find a way to heal each other. And in turn, they healed my broken heart as well.

I'm so glad we were able to get this book, because I truly feel it will heal some broken part of everyone who reads it.

“But you could heal. You could repair your fractured spirit with golden lacquer and hold on to life.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

This is book two in the A Thousand Boy Kisses series following Savannah and Cael in their journey through grief and healing from deaths in their lives. Savannah isn’t healing after 4 years since Poppy’s death, and her parents thought it would be a good idea to send her on a retreat with others like her in order to accept Poppy’s death. She meets Cael on this retreat, and he is so far gone in his anger because of his brother’s death. They end up opening to each other and help us other grieve and heal while forming a life long bond between each other.

Wow this one was a tough read yall. And not because it was bad, but because it was so heavy. I think this book was a really accurate representation of grief and how people process differently and have different scales of acceptance. The different cultures represented throughout this book were super interesting to see, and to see how they handled death in their respective ways as well. For anyone struggling, I think this will be a very hard read, but one that gives good insight.

For me, there was just a little missing that A Thousand Boy Kisses provided me with. I don’t really know exactly what it was, but ATBK ruined me beyond repair, I was ugly sobbing like no other. This one, I barely cried but my heart was so heavy with the topics. They have such different feels butbinna good way. I also felt like Cael opened up to Sav way too easily for how harsh he was originally portrayed. I loved their romance in the end, but the start of it didn’t feel very realistic or within character.

Side note: The nickname Peaches??? Everytime I heard it, Bowser was screaming in my head, ????????peaches peaches peaches peaches peaches peaches peaches peaches peaches peach I LOVEEEEE YOU OHHHHHH PEACHES???????? and I just could not.
