About this item

The FBI thrillers The Target and The Edge, together for the first time in one volume.

The Target—Coulter “keeps readers guessing” (Booklist) as a little girl is pursued by men who prove as relentless as their motives are baffling. And FBI agents Savich and Sherlock must unravel the clues.

The Edge—In this “fast-paced thriller” (People), an FBI agent’s sister disappears after an attempted suicide. When Savich and Sherlock join the search, they discover a startling connection to a puzzling murder—and put their lives on the line to uncover the truth.

First book of Catherine Coulers I've read but definitely not the last. Let me first say just in case you didn't catch it that this is two books in one. The first is The Target. The second is The Edge. Both are wonderful books but honestly the Target is on of the best books I've ever read and I read two-three books a week. The Target has so many twist that when you think ok I have it figured all the way out now but guess what Suprise another twist. One warning though it starts out about a little girl escaping a real sicko who has done things to her. Shes discovered in the woods by Judge Ramsey who is our hero who is a definate bad ass. Not trying to tell to much about the book.Ramsey idon a vacation. Much needed break from job only to start adventure of protecting this little girl that he will protect no matter what.

I keep reading these books even though the plots are all a very slight variation on a theme, with new characters and settings. The characters are stereotypes, even the descriptions are the same (e.g., female protagonists all have thick, curly red hair that’s typically pulled back and clipped at the neck, while all the guys are have thick, athletic bodies or runners bodies). Soon, all the FBI agents will be married to each other because they always fall in love, marry, and reproduce. Typically, there’s even a Perry Mason-ish confrontation with all the characters present as the antagonist gives a full confession. But I guess they’re at least exciting to read. Or maybe I’m just too lazy to find a more creative author....

5.0 out of 5 stars The Target and The Edge

I love the FBI series. Whenever I want or need to read a well written book with wonderful characters, a great story full of suspense, great descriptions, and warm romance, I read or reread a book in this series. In this set The Target is great. I didn't enjoy The Edge as much due to the whole drug/sex thing. But this series is really entertaining.

4.0 out of 5 stars Oldies from Catherine Coulter

I purchased Double Jeopardy because I had never read The Target or The Edge as they were written in the late 1990's. The Target was good and a typical Catherine Coulter thriller, but I did not care for the Edge. It is difficult for me to believe that she even wrote this story. It was written in first person and had a very silly plot that made little sense. This was just not Ms Coulter's style. I would recommend reading the Target, but not worthwhile purchasing this double book that included the Edge.

I like that the author takes time to develop the characters: we feel like we know them and understand them and their actions. I love Sherlock and Savage. I love the interplay between the married couple. Great storyline. Had me on the edge of my seat for awhile there!
All in all a great book and great series.
