    Book 4 might be the best out of this series. I thoroughly enjoyed the plot ,suspense, humor, friendship and love of the characters. The story was wonderful.

    I loved, loved this friends to lovers, older MCs, amnesia, romantic suspense tale. It is a heartwarming, spicy, and exciting story that is beautifully told through the eyes of two intense, strong and passionate characters. JJ and April are portrayed as real, relatable people who have flaws, but are really just trying to do their best as messy humans. JJ co-owns a tree service company in a small town in Maine with his three best friends. He is a former special forces soldier and was a POW. April is a middle aged divorcé and has been the administrative assistant to Jack’s Lumber for the last five years. JJ and April have been in love with each other for years but neither one has acted on the attraction for reasons. Until April is in a car accident and suffers from amnesia. As JJ takes care of April and finally admits his feelings they seem to be heading for their HEA until evil from JJ’s past comes for them. The story was well written and included engaging dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and a captivating storyline. The suspense was well balanced with the romance creating a perfect contrast. The story will give you all the deep emotions - laughing, crying, swooning, cringing, teeth gritting, knuckle biting, and cheering through sweet moments, steamy scenes, chuckles, supportive friends, messy families, painful pasts, dangerous situations, uber protective men, and all the love. I have loved these characters and am sorry to see the end of this series.

    I enjoyed reading this book. The characters are engaging and amazing the connection is undeniable throughout the pages. The storyline flowed easily throughout the pages. A must read!

    This is book 4 in the Game of Chance series and it features Jackson “JJ” Justice, and April Hoffman. She runs the office at Jack’s Lumber, which is owned by JJ, Chappy, Cal and Bob. Later in the story, all the guys and their wives play a bigger role in the storyline. An accident and a case of amnesia makes JJ regret loving April from afar for way too many years. Now he needs to help her get her memory back and tell her how he really feels.
    This book was almost like reading two books in one. The first part of this story was about JJ and April. Everyone else had already gotten their HEA’s and this is the last book of the series. The second part of this book was a smooth transition into the guy’s past coming back to haunt them in a BIG way! This book is full of friendship, family, love, anger, revenge, and ultimately brotherhood.
    BRAVO! Excellent way to end a fantastic series!

    At first, I thought this series wouldn't be as exciting as her other ones because it didn't have alpha males still working to take down bad guys. I was wrong. The incredible back story for these men is heartbreaking, and it's easy to see why they wanted jobs that weren't as dangerous. They were still just as strong and capable as they always had been. Her characters are so well developed and interesting that readers are pulled in and invested in what happens to them. Susan Stoker is my all-time favorite author and she delivered another wonderful book.

    The Lumberjack is the final book in the Game of Chance series. It's definately another winner from Susan Stoker. Great characters, spicy romance, intrigue, suspense, drama and danger make reading a Susan Stoker book a highly entertaining experience. The heroes are hunky and protective. Their women courageous and punky. Add to that the omniscient Tex and players from other Stoker series..doesn't get much better. This time out Ace Security, Silverstone Towing and Mountain Mercenaries join the cast.

    This is Jackson Justice and April Hoffman's story. We've watched them dance around one another for five years, throughout this series. It takes a car accident and amnesia for Jack to finally pull his head out and claim the woman he fell for when she all but demanded he hire her as his office manager. Surreptitious side glances, flirty banter, longing looks and secret smiles from both of them, clued everyone around them of their feelings. Finally it's their time. Unfortunately, a vengeful plot by an evil and sadistic madman puts everything on hold. It's April's courage and Jack's calmness under pressure that produce the best possible outcome....along with help from his brothers-in-arms.

    Oh my! What an action packed story and an apt end to the series!! Jack and April, they have waited 5 years to finally get their chance. And they do. But they don’t realise there is a sinister presence. An unhinged person. And the action and drama that follows is mind blowing. And we get to see our other favorite people - men of Ace Security, Mountain Mercenaries, and Silverstone. And of course Tex. The last few pages, with longer epilogues for all four - Riggs, Cal, Bob and Jack were the bonus on top of the other bonus.

    This is still a standalone with an action packed chemistry filled storyline with an HEA. Bittersweet feelings as this Susan Stoker series ends but this one- I’ll be reading again and again.

    Jack (JJ) and April have been dancing around their attraction and feelings for each other throughout this series. In this final book, they finally come clean and admit how they feel. How they’ve felt for almost 5 years now. But it’s not an easy go of it. April has an accident and loses her memory for a time. That makes Jack realize he’s wasted so much time being afraid to act on his feelings and now he has to navigate carefully as April recovers.

    This is definitely my favorite of the series, although it has more danger for all the characters and my heart was in my throat for much of this story. Jack and his team have their past come back to haunt them, their women being used to trap them, it’s all heart wrenching suspense.

    Finally, the epilogue touches on the future for every duo and its perfection. This series is another must read of Susan’s. Don’t miss it.
