About this item

*A TOP 15 BESTSELLER!*

Three months ago, I had the best night of my life at my friend’s wedding.
The man was
confident, smooth, gorgeous as sin.
We had a connection that I had never felt with anyone.
Or so I thought, because the next morning, he was gone before I woke up with a note that led me to believe he was
not interested in a repeat.
Feeling rejected and confused, I managed to put him out of my head.
Until now, on my first day of my new job.
Because the man responsible for the best night of my life?
...Is my married boss.
And he hasn’t stopped thinking about me either.

*This book is the third in the Secrets series and can be read as a stand-alone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Complicated filthy and fantastic!
Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2024
Extremely Engaging, thought provoking multi racial romantic story with a great mix of spice angst and some drama that was perfectly performed by Conner Crais (a fantastic narrator and favorite of mine ) and Monique Ryerson a narrator new to me who also did an amazing job.
    ????
These two (Conner Crais and Monique Ryerson played up the tension and emotions that comes with this taboo of a story .. a woman who fell into an emotional entanglement with her very married boss,
The guy who has been living in a very tumultuous relationship and had made some unwise mistakes that will threaten any decisions he makes going forward.
    ????
But as he finally comes to term with cutting current ties with his toxic wife, he soon found himself in a battle for keeping the one person who truly sees and love him…not for his financial worth, not for what she could possibly gain, not for his billions but for HIM ..

"I know I'm complicated and asking a lot of you, but give me time to be worthy of you, please."

While some might find this topic controversial or heck even contentious.. I loved that this author never shy away from making this topic relevant to be debated.

Although many might say the MMC was a serial cheater .. I on the other hand beg to disagree..
The MMC actions were that of a man trying to cope the best possible way. And although the story didn’t highlight the other side behavior (whether the wife was cheating during those years ) I believe it was intentional so that we can draw a conclusion on hypothetical scenarios . (Just a thought)

So…. I would have loved a bit more about the wife in the story .. but..I got the impression that although not mentioned,I’m guessing that the cheating wasn’t one sided at all. That is my assumption especially with how manipulative and devious she is. But hey that’s my thought.

    ????
This was one seriously complicated, but such an amazing controversial story nonetheless.
The chemistry between Chris and Marissa is definitely undeniable!
And their struggles journeying towards their HEA was definitely one I freaking cheered and champion for!

This Audiobook was phenomenal and I must say having Conner Crais in my ear.. ohhh .. #@# .. I’m trying to keep it PG but yeah this man whew Lord.. !

Yes definitely recommend listening this story that’s is part of a series but can be read as standalone!

Some of why you will love this book ????
    ????Age gap
    ????Office Romance
    ????Taboo
    ????Second Chance

4.0 out of 5 stars This is my favorite QB Tyler book!

When Chris and Marissa meet at a friend's wedding, they're instantly attracted to each other. After a very hot night together, Chris leaves before Marissa wakes up. Three months later, Marissa is one of a group of new employees in her first post-college job. When she's in orientation, she's shocked to learn the CFO is her one-night stand from the wedding!

There's still that strong attraction between Chris and Marissa, but Marissa didn't know that Chris was married. No spoilers, but his marriage is a complex situation. He wants Marissa, and will do whatever it takes to keep her. He's determined to win her heart. Marissa isn't crazy about Chris being married, but she feels the strong pull they have to one another.

This was a complicated, multi-layeted story. There's a bit more angst than I care for, but I still enjoyed the story. The heat between Chris and Marissa is explosive! Their HEA was not a simple journey, but well worth it.

Monique Ryerson was a new to me narrator, and she was really good. Connor Crais is one of my favorite narrators, and he was absolutely perfect. This is easily my favorite QB Tyler book, and I'll definitely be listening to this again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Q.B. must stand for Queen Bee of taboo romance!!
Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2024
Q.B. Tyler is amazing at writing taboo romance the RIGHT way! I love that she writes it in a way that is real, honest, and imperfectly perfect. I love taboo/forbidden romance, as long as it's done right, and Q.B. does it right! I like that she pushes boundries, while not making it feel trashy or like some cheesy p0rn0. I know a LOT of readers refuse to read a romance with any cheating, and that is totally fine. However, I'd like to consider myself open-minded and understanding enough that I realize life is not always black and white, good and bad, and so on. Life is messy. It's complicated, layered, and REALLY FLIPPIN HARD. We are human, and WE ALL make choices, decisions, and yes... even mistakes every single day. I try not to judge others, at least not quickly and not on the smaller things, because I don't know "their story." I've not walked in their shoes, so I don't know what I'd do, and mostly because it's NOT MY PLACE.

More importantly, IT'S NOT REAL!! It is a book, a story, a work of FICTION, just like a TV show or movie. There are REAL, actual problems in the world that we can and should be doing something about, or at the very least, taking a stand on. Issues like domestic abuse, rape, starvation, inequality, homelessness, racism, murder, trafficking, injustice, and so much more. So, when I see posts about a book where people are spewing venom...over a FICTIONAL story because a character cheats, it just seems so nonsensical and ridiculous to me. Most of us reading these books live in an amazing country with so much more than so many others... like the freedom to read whatever the HE(( we want. So, just be thankful for that right and use it. Move along to a different book and please for the love of books... kindly keep the condescending opinions and judgment to yourself.

Ok...WOW ???? I don't really know where that rant came from, but obviously, I needed to use this review as a therapeutic outlet or something lol. Thanks again Q.B. Tyler for a great read and now also improving my mental health ????
