Absolutely loved this book. It was written because the fans had to have more of the characters from It Ends With US. Very well written and actually fulfilled a perfect complete ending. Colleen Hoover is a brilliant author. I had been gifted the first book but I chose to purchase this one. No doubt you'll love it.

About this item
Before It Ends with Us, it started with Atlas. Colleen Hoover tells fan favorite Atlas's side of the story and shares what comes next in this long-anticipated sequel to the "glorious and touching" (USA TODAY) #1 New York Times bestseller It Ends with Us.
Lily and her ex-husband, Ryle, have just settled into a civil coparenting rhythm when she suddenly bumps into her first love, Atlas, again. After nearly two years separated, she is elated that for once, time is on their side, and she immediately says yes when Atlas asks her on a date.
But her excitement is quickly hampered by the knowledge that, though they are no longer married, Ryle is still very much a part of her life—and Atlas Corrigan is the one man he will hate being in his ex-wife and daughter's life.
Switching between the perspectives of Lily and Atlas, It Starts with Us picks up right where the epilogue for the "gripping, pulse-pounding" (Sarah Pekkanen, author of Perfect Neighbors) bestselling phenomenon It Ends with Us left off. Revealing more about Atlas's past and following Lily as she embraces a second chance at true love while navigating a jealous ex-husband, it proves that "no one delivers an emotional read like Colleen Hoover" (Anna Todd, New York Times bestselling author).

Colleen Hoover is a New York Times bestselling author of It Ends With Us(book 1) and It Starts With Us(book 2). In It Starts With Us it begins with Atlas and Lily running into each other. Atlas and Lily may also rekindle their love from when they were teenagers. However, there is a problem with Lily’s ex-husband who believes Atlas could potentially be the reason his marriage ended with Lily which can potentially harm Lily and Atlas’s chance at a relationship.
The novel is a young adult romance that involves some domestic abuse and child abandonment. The title of the book refers to how it ended with Lily and Atlas meeting again at the end of the first book It Ends With Us and in the second book It Starts With Us it begins with Atlas and Lily running into each other. Which explains why the author chose to title the novel. Additionally, throughout the book, it switches between the perspectives of Atlas and Lily in every chapter. Even though the perspective changes it wasn’t complicated for me to understand what was happening throughout the story. Having two different perspectives helped me understand the views of each character more fully. However, if it is hard for you to keep track when there is more than one perspective then this book may be more difficult.
Colleen Hoover's writing captivates people who want to read novels. As the second book of a series, it wasn’t as enjoyable as the first book was, however, it still was an amazing read. The book was fast paced in certain moments but had points where it wasn’t as fast-paced.
Before getting into this author's books I wasn’t reading many books, however, this book was extremely interesting and after I began reading it I finished it in a few days. I would recommend anyone who enjoys romance novels to read this book however the domestic abuse and child abandonment could be harder for some to handle. Although these are difficult topics Colleen Hoover does a good job of making them lighter and more readable, unlike the first book of the series which had more graphic scenes of domestic abuse.
I look forward to more of Colleen Hoover’s novels in the future.

Read this book after I read the 2nd book first. Didn't know there were 2 books to this story. Enjoyed this story as much as the 2nd and was happy to finally find out who Ellen was. LOL! Who would have guessed. Quick read and interesting from start to finish.

It Starts with Us was a beautifully written and heartwarming sequel to It Ends with Us. This was one of my most anticipated reads and it did not disappoint. Atlas and Lily deserved their happy ending and getting to read that was absolutely everything I wanted and more.
Again this book picks up immediately after the ending of It Ends with Us, so I would highly recommend just reading that book first. I also suggest checking the content and trigger warnings before reading.
It is dual POVs of Atlas and Lily and has a second chance romance and the found family trope.
The premise of this book was definitely a lot lighter than the first book, as it focused more on accepting and fighting for love and family. The writing was amazing and just easy to read; I also loved the short chapters.
The discussions regarding abuse, finding support and being a survivor was so powerful as well. While, there were some difficult and heartbreaking moments throughout the story, those moments were beautifully written and carefully handled.
One of the most important parts of this book for me was that the author did not try or even insinuate a redemption for Ryle (Lily’s abusive ex-husband). He definitely did not deserve forgiveness and what he kept putting Lily through was heartbreaking, but I do understand how difficult that situation can be when a child is involved. So I just loved how strong and brave Lily was to stand up and do what was best for her daughter and herself.
The romance between Atlas and Lily was incredible. I actually liked how they took their time and didn’t immediately jump into a relationship. All the history, banter, chemistry and spice between them was amazing. They both deserved their happily ever after especially with everything they went through, so being able to read that was so heartwarming.
Atlas was honestly the most lovable, patient, understanding and considerate hero I have ever read. His letters and love for Lily was just everything anyone could hope for. He’s definitely the reason I loved this book as much as I did.
All the side characters in this book were incredible. I loved the support and friendship Lilly had with Allysa (Ryle’s sister) and her husband, Marshall. Atlas bond with Theo (his friend’s teenage kid) and his half brother, Josh was amazing as well.
There was no third act conflict or drama at the end, which I absolutely appreciated. Both Atlas’ and Lily fought enough for their happiness, so it was just nice to see them in love and with their family.
Overall, just an absolutely beautiful and heartfelt read.

The series feels complete now. I found myself wanting to forgive Ryle…even after the biting. Honestly makes me feel a little irresponsible for the things I’ve allowed my husband to do and say. It Starts with us offers some closure to Lily’s character and in this case the good guy won.
