About this item

An accidental pregnancy, small town, sports romance from Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author, Devney Perry.

Pregnant. Homeless. Broke. Not what I’d expected for my senior year in college. Neither was Rush Ramsey.

We met the day I went camping and got stranded on the side of a gravel road. I didn’t believe in white knights who freed damsels in distress. Life had taught me that if something bad could happen, it probably would. The only person who would save me was me.

But Rush Ramsey rescued me that day. He was sweet and kind and charming. He made a dark, starry night a little less lonely.

I should have realized it was too good to be true. That an incredible night of passion would come with consequences. That the bad luck rollercoaster I’d been riding for twenty-one years wasn’t ready to stop.

Because Rush Ramsey, Treasure State University’s most eligible bachelor and quarterback extraordinaire, just got me pregnant.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rush and Faye
Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2024
I loved this book. It was emotional and romantic and the perfect representation of what I would imagine it would feel like to have your whole world changed in an instant.

I really liked that we got such an in depth look at Rush’s reaction to the news Faye was pregnant. Since he got the news the way he did it allowed him to sit in his feelings and really contemplate what it meant for him. He had lead a relatively easy life up to that point, he had great parents and was living his dream, playing college football and looking towards his future in the NFL and this was his first real hurdle.

Faye didn’t have any of that. She had lead a life that encouraged her to never hope or dream because her life had taught her those hopes and dreams would be stripped. Her life had been one hit after another and it took her awhile to trust in her relationship with Rush because of that.

Rush was a great book boyfriend. He was so patient with Faye and paid attention to what she needed. He was all in, even before she ended up pregnant and I loved that about him. He communicated his intentions really well and was there to reassure Faye.

This was a great book. I really liked that the first three books in this series took place in the same timeline because it gave depth to all three stories. I hope we get to see more Faye and Rush in Maverick’s book!

5.0 out of 5 stars my new favorite author

I already loved Devney Perry’s Runaway Road and The Edens series, but this new series has cemented her as my new favorite author. Those series had a bit of suspense and mystery in them, which the Treasure State books do not, but that just shows her versatility to pull off a sports series. The females often have troubled pasts and the men have to chase them. I much prefer that to silly instalove plots imo. These characters are real with real struggles. I found Rush and Faye both likable and lovable. I loved the theme of “we just need to rally” whenever there’s a setback. I’m going to start using that phrase in my own life! Here’s the basic plot: both Faye and Rush are in unhappy relationships and decide to get away for a weekend alone by camping at the same camping area. Fayr has a flat tire and Rush stops to help. It’s a wonderful meet cute as Rush is the star QB and finds Faye refreshing and intriguing as she doesn’t know who he is. Yes, that plot has been done before but Devney does it very well. They meet up again sometime later, after they are both single, and have a hot hookup that results in a pregnancy. This is not a spoiler as it’s in the book blurb. The rest of the book deals with poor Faye struggling with her diner job, classes, supporting herself, and with her relationship with her sister, her boss/mother figure, and of course Rush as he adjusts to his upcoming fatherhood and football career. It’s a touching story and I was happy to cheer the couple on to an HEA with a great epilogue! There is an obvious set up for the next book in the series that is centered around Rush’s roommate Maverick. Maverick is not very likable in this book so we can look forward to reading his redemption arc in the next book. My only complaint about this book is that the mean girls weren’t ever dealt with. Devney showed them more grace than I would have lol.

5.0 out of 5 stars Relished every bit of goodness of Rally... 5+ stars!

Where do I even begin with this review? The Treasure State Wildcats series is turning out to be a treasure trove—pun intended—of stories that have angst, wit, and most definitely, romance and a cast of characters that are perfectly imperfect, layered, and with depth. What's rather genius about this series is that the three currently available novels overlap in terms of timeline to a degree, yet they all work remarkably well as standalones, if I do say so myself. I loved Coach, a second chance romance, and I seriously liked Blitz, a forbidden romance; so yes, my expectations were undoubtedly quite lofty for Rally, the third and newest tale in the series. And guess what? All of those expectations were obliterated.

When Faye Gannon meets Rush Ramsey, she has no clue that he's the star quarterback of the Treasure State Wildcats, a fact that's rather refreshing for him. He lends a helping hand when she struggles with a flat tire, and even offers her a shared safe place to camp for the night. Then they see each other again, and this time around, their night is spent together...that is, till Faye up and disappears the morning after. They may both be twenty-one-year-old seniors attending the same university, but that doesn't necessarily mean their paths cross regularly. So when she realizes she's pregnant, not only does Faye need to have a serious discussion with Rush, but they'll have to come to a decision as to what the future holds for them.

What does one do when a story takes hold of you from the get-go and you have other things you have scheduled for the day? Welp, you set everything else aside and just keep reading, not that I had any other choice because Faye and Rush and their tale were just too intriguing and trying to concentrate on anything else would have been an exercise in futility. This was a slow burn romance, one that began with a chance meeting, then a one-night stand, leading to an unplanned pregnancy, and I was there for every touchstone in their relationship. They went from strangers to hook-ups to friends to lovers and then to far more. I lived for every page turned and was left with a major book hangover. Five-plus stars for Rally.
