About this item

Can an artisan builder with a haunted past learn to break down her own walls?

Orla Clarke is a master builder with a secret—she can see ghosts. Tasked with building Common Gin’s newest distillery in Loren Brae, Orla faces more than just architectural challenges. Haunted by her past as an orphan and the spirits that have followed her since childhood, Orla’s talent for building walls extends to her heart. She’s brilliant at solving problems on the construction site, but when it comes to matters of love, she’s always kept her distance.

Enter Finlay Thompson, the charming and driven director of the distillery project. Determined to breathe new life into the old stone building, Finlay is equally passionate about gin as he is about profits. Betrayed by family, and untrusting of relationships, he can’t help but be entranced by the pint-sized powerhouse overseeing the build-out of the distillery. With mysterious things happening around Loren Brae, the more Finlay puts himself in Orla’s path, the more he is drawn to the quiet builder with luminous eyes.

As spirits bring secrets to light, Orla and Finlay must confront their deepest fears. Can they build a future together, or will their haunted pasts keep them apart forever?

I fall in love with Loren Brae a little more with each book Tricia O’ Malley writes. Wild Scottish Fortune had everything you’ve come to expect. Magical, mystical creatures , fantastic characters we’ve all come to love and a fantastic romance complete with the best ghost coo you could ever want to meet.

Orla is a builder who has her own building company and has picked herself up from literally nothing to become a successful business owner. She’s used to no one being there for her for long and besides her crew she doesn’t really trust anyone will ever stay around long. She does have some magical qualities though as she is able to see ghosts and has a mystical woman only she can see who guides her sometimes.

Finlay is the Scottish building director in charge of Orla’a current project and although he seems quite posh, he’s a good guy and like Orla has some heavy baggage. Although they both have very different pasts they make a connection almost immediately. Orla also discovers she’s the next member of the Order of Caledonia and should she accept she might very well acquire the family she never had.

I love how Orla and Fin come together. They were both drifting souls finding their person in each other. Together they learn how to build parts of themselves backup from when others had torn them down. Not only do they find trust and love with one another, but they find a peace they didn’t know they could have.

I loved this book. Orla’a journey was heartbreaking and you couldn’t fault Finlay for wanting to protect her and be the one who didn’t leave. Fin has his own family issues though and I love how he took steps to protect himself and those he loved by setting boundaries.

This story was beautifully written and I just can’t wait for more. I want more from these wonderful characters and more of this beautiful Scottish setting. I’m absolutely chomping at the bit for more!

    Forced Proximity

This is a really cozy magical read. I loved all the Scottish vibes. This was actually my first read of this series but I really liked it. All the various kinds of witches were so fun and interesting. I really loved the writing style because you felt like you were there in this peaceful and magical town.

I loved Orla. She was relatable to me, in a sense. I also have a hard time asking or receiving help. She was kind of a loner and kept to herself because she has been through some things. She’s a little awkward. She’s not bitter though. She was brilliant and resilient in the best way. I also loved how she interacted with ‘ghosts’. How amazing would it be to have a guiding spirit like The Green Lady?

Finlay was so cute. Loren Brae was the perfect place for him. I loved how sincere and sweet he was with Orla. He was perfect.

I enjoyed this book a lot and would love to read the previous books. I can’t wait to see what happens with Agnes as well! Allen the characters (and animals) were incredibly charming. I loved every last one of them.

Highly recommend if you love a cozy feel good book. This book is magical with paranormal aspects but also in the writing style. It was like a breath of fresh air for me. Thank you.

I love Orla as a character. She has a sad backstory, but is making a beautiful future for herself.
Finlay seems so stiff at first, but his heart is so kind. He treats Orla so gently.
Of course there is magick to unmask, and ghosts to send on their way, which adds the misunderstanding that might end the possible happily ever after.
I enjoy returning to Scotland and the kelpies and the Order. This is a favorite new series.

I loved Wild Scottish Fortune. In my opinion it’s the best one I’ve read so far in this series. I liked the rich back story for the two main characters and that this time, they were both Scottish. Tricia O’Malley definitely gave the characters more substance than she’s done in the past and I thoroughly enjoyed their journey. I loved the inclusion of a special dog at the animal shelter and the way everything came together for all concerned. I’m not going to go into too much detail here, but I think you’ll find book 6 in the Enchanted Highlands series extra special.

I’m obsessed with these books!!! I loved Tricia’s first book in the series (Wild Scottish Knight) and binged the rest so fast it would probably make your head spin. When pre-order came out for Wild Scottish Fortune I jumped on it. The characters are amazing and I love the depth she gives them.
Orla and Fin’s story is so sweet and just beautiful!!! I think we can all relate to Orla at some point in our lives. She is so strong and yet finds it in her heart to let people in. Beautiful story and I cannot wait for the next one!

I enjoy this writer, the continuity of story and Scott folklore. Characters are well developed along with the environment. Makes a person want to travel there, spend some time with people in the pub, walk the town and country.
