About this item

She bought the cabin on a whim. But will it transform into her perfect getaway?

Burnt out from her high-flying author career and dreaming of escaping her busy Manhattan life, when Laura discovers her husband cheating on her with another writer, she knows it’s time for a change. After her brother calls her about a country Bed and Breakfast for sale, Laura ditches New York and buys it on the spot… only to realize that the run-down cabin will need more than a little elbow grease to restore it to working condition.

As she’s swept up in the quiet joys of small-town life, an ad in the local paper draws her to the rugged handyman Paul – and though his wicked humor sours first impressions, she soon warms to his rustic charms. But her past isn’t done with her yet.
Faced with the daunting reality of fixing up her cabin – and with her Manhattan agents pressuring her to return to the big city – Laura must find the strength to commit to her new future… and maybe find true love along the way.

Was this cabin the worst impulse buy in her life? Or will she find happiness amid the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains?

Dive into a cozy small-town adventure that will charm your heart with a feel-good story of new beginnings, wholesome romance, and healing from the past. The Smoky Mountain series is a delightful read that’s perfect for anyone who wants to grab their favorite coffee and be whisked away on an enchanting saga.

5.0 out of 5 stars Laura changes her life

Laura is an author, which has had some terrible things happen to her, first of all her book did not do well. Her husband left her for another author much younger, then ruined her name in the industry. She talks with her brother David is a realtor and convinces her to look at a cabin in the mountains he thinks it would work for her. She makes the move to Smoky mountains; her brother lives there, and loves it there, she is a city girl. She is not prepared for how remote it is, and it needs work she jumps right into buying it and then hiring a local handyman who name is Noah. He has a different vison for the cabin than she does, he wants her to not try to change it so much, they have to learn to work together but she does own it and is free to do as she wishes with it. Very good story so far, easy to get into it looking forward to the next book.

I am an ARC; reader and I am leaving my review voluntarily.

What a cozy read! As Laura finds herself having to start over, an opportunity lands in her lap. Her brother tells her of a cabin for sale near him and she buys it. Leaving Manhattan she about to embark on a new adventure.
With the cabin needing some renovations in comes Noah the handyman. He's a straight forward man but one Laura comes to find intriguing.
With all the work that needs to be done, they work as a team to make her vision come true.
As an author who is taking a break Laura is deciding to make her cabin a B N B again.
I really enjoyed reading this book and the Smokey Mountain feel to it. I can't wait to read Book 2.

An ARC copy was given but this review is my own and voluntary.

5.0 out of 5 stars second career start in the Smokys?

This new series is off to a good start with Laura, author moving from New York City to the Smoky Mountains. She has been betrayed, deceived and her reputation smeared by her ex - husband Charles, who has taken up a relationship with another author, 20 years younger.

She purchases a cottage in the Smoky Mountains near her brother and his family. This cottage was a BnB 10 years ago and she is deciding what to do, whether to turn it into a BnB after refurbishing the upstairs bedrooms and baths as she has done on the first floor for herself along with an updated kitchen with new appliances. She has also gotten help from a local handyman to get the first floor finished along with repairs throughout the building and built an outdoor fireplace with Noah and sparks are simmering

I received an early free copy, ARC, and am giving my honest, voluntary and free review.

Grace Meyers captures you into this new series at page one. Laura Carter an author living in Manhattan didn’t get the results she wanted from her last book. Her publisher decided to cancel her contract. Her brother David is a realtor in the Blue Mountains and recommends that she moves closer to him. A remote cabin is for sale and can be updated into a Bed and Breakfast. Laura takes her brother’s advice and makes the move. The cabin is comfortable and homey but needs updates. Noah a reliable handyman is hired. There is much that Laura needs to learn about being in the woods and running a B&B. Noah has been very helpful and seems that their friendship is growing. This is a quick read that can be read in one sitting. I received an advanced copy. My review is my options and in my own words. Can’t wait to start book 2.

Grace starts us on another adventure, Laura was a successful writer in NYC until her husband leaves her and her publisher drops her. Laura decides to make a drastic change and purchases a former BnB in the Smoky Mountains near her brother. She hires a local man, Noah to help with some updates. Will Laura reopen the BnB or accept an offer to write 3 new books? Is a romance with Noah a possibility? Can’t wait to read the next installment. I received an ARC and am leaving this review on my own.

I was given an ARC copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. Laura moved to a cabin in the woods following a bad divorce and begins renovations to possibly open a B&B. She begins a friendship with handyman Noah who helps with the renovations. I loved this first book and can't wait for Book 2 to see if Laura and Noah become more than friends.

It is going to be another interesting romantic novel. Laura is torn between living in her recently purchased cabin in the woods and her former life as an author while Noah her hired handyman increases her doubts about her new endeavor.
