About this item

An angsty, age gap, forbidden romance from bestselling author, Elizabeth O’ Roark.

Once upon a time, my buddy’s niece was a toddler in a swim diaper following me around the beach. Now Daisy’s twenty-one, the loveliest thing I’ve ever laid eyes on, and blackmailing me into letting her stay for the summer.

If she’s not bent over on my deck in yoga pants, she’s in a bikini that covers far less. She makes me laugh when I want to stay pissed off and forces me to remember all the things I used to love. If only she wasn’t so damn young and so
incredibly off-limits.

The sizzling tension between us is getting harder to resist, but giving in would destroy some of my oldest friendships. Worst of all, though?

It might destroy Daisy too.

Audiobook review: narrated by Samantha Brentmoor and Jason Clarke

I have read every one of the Summer Series books and have been a fan from the first one, but this last book is my favorite by far. Harrison and Daisy are amazing together. His internal monologue brought such a fun layer to an otherwise serious character. Daisy was such a light-hearted, beautiful soul and they play off each other so well. The banter between these two had me laughing out loud. The character progression was so well done and provided a well rounded feel to the book. The story itself was brilliant and evolved so fluidly I had a hard time turning it off. It is easily one of the best, most emotional, age-gap romances I've ever read/listened to.

One million stars to both these narrators. They brought so much life to these characters and every single emotion was brought forward so well I truly felt connected to these two. The duet narration is my favorite because it adds an entertainment value to the books that I crave and appreciate.

This book was hilarious, real, & sexy!! The story line was great and it’s not your average age gap trope you’re thinking. It’s well written and duel POV. FMC is so relatable to real life. She’s makes me laugh out loud and is so witty, but I also caught myself with tears a couple times. MMC is rich, sexy, and swoon worthy at the end. Slow burn but worth it. Must read!! You 100% won’t regret it. ????️????️????️????️

I’m so serious when I tell you, that I don’t think Elizabeth can write a bad book.. truly. I have loved and cherished every single book I’ve read by her, and this book and this series is absolutely no exception. I’m honestly just in complete awe. Elizabeth can do no wrong in my eyes, and I will die on that hill.

This is it. This is the end of a perfect series. And what a way to go… there is not one flaw with this book. From start to finish it’s complete perfection. The angst, the seduction, the “fight to deny it”… just everything. My words can truly not do this book justice. You just need to read it…and every other book in this series. Nobody writes angst like Elizabeth and it’s absolutely delicious to read, and so satisfying when the magic happens! You’re completely enraptured, and when the spice hits, it makes you feel like you’re looking in on a really private moment between two people. There’s so much chemistry and intimacy. It’s mind blowing. This book was mind blowing. This whole series was mind blowing.

And the audiobooks?! GTFO, they’re some of the most amazing audiobooks I’ve ever had the joy of listening to. Samantha Brentmoor has played each of the fmc’s in this series so perfectly. Samantha will always and forever be a top five narrator for me. She embodies each of the characters she plays, and gives you the best emotional and sensual listening experiences. She’s a queen. Jason Clarke was her counterpart in this final book, and I couldn’t have picked a better man to narrate Harrison. He breathed life into Harrison and made him feel so tangible and so real. I loved every second of this audiobook, and all the others in the series too. 100% worth your time!

Please, please read this series and please listen to the audiobooks, you will not regret a single second of it. ????

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this forbidden age gap romance

I loved this book so much! The Summer I First Saw You is the perfect blend of swoony romance, angst, spice, and forbidden tension and longing.

Daisy ran home to California from her east coast university when her mom said she’d love to spend the summer with her. She said she kicked Daisy’s odious step father to the curb, but that didn’t exactly end up happening. Daisy hilariously convinces (blackmails) her uncle’s best friend, Harrison, to let her crash at his beach house for the summer. Daisy has had a crush on Harrison her entire life, but Harrison is just seeing Daisy as an adult as opposed to the kid who chased him around on the beach as a kid.

Daisy was such a fun character. She was so snarky and mischievous. I loved the way she provoked Harrison and wouldn’t let him get away with anything. Her responses to his attraction to her were so funny. It made for some really great banter.

Both Daisy and Harrison had issues to overcome and I love how they helped each other recover while finding out how perfect they are for each other. Their connection was so natural. Harrison was just going through the motions everyday, but Daisy helped him learn how to live. I also loved how surfing fit into their relationship and how therapeutic it was to them individually.

Although this book is the fifth book in the summer series, it really does work well as a standalone. It was my favorite in the series!

I don’t care for Daisy. She was very immature but thought she was more mature than Harrison. I didn’t care for how she manipulated him even though he ends up blaming himself for taking advantage of her.
This book wasn’t my favorite in the series.

The conclusion of the series was bittersweet, but Harrison and Daisy’s story wrapped up beautifully. The author skillfully navigates the age gap trope, blending emotional depth with the fun, flirtation, and personal growth of their romance. This balanced approach provides a memorable and satisfying ending to the series.
