About this item
I’ve been quiet long enough.
I’m nothing like my brothers. I’ve devoted my life to my work, and I don’t care about God or family.
I live alone, and I like it that way. Soon, I’ll have the job of my dreams far away from this place, and that’s all that matters.
Everything is going perfectly.
That is until Sadie Green walks into my class.
She is brilliant and funny and infuriating, and she’s ruining everything I have planned for my life.
When she gets the news that she’s pregnant, and the baby’s father isn't going to help her, I step in.
She needs guidance, control, and discipline.
Moving her into my house is a risk. If I’m caught living with my pregnant student, I will lose my job and everything I have planned.
But the first time she asks me to punish her, I know it won’t be so easy to walk away—because I love it.
Being with her would risk everything, but God help me, I can’t seem to stop.
Before long, I don’t recognize the good teacher I used to be.

Cate has delivered another sellout performance between Professor Goode and his brat. The banter, the forbidden chemistry, the trauma and healing, and the emotions ran deep at the pulse point of Lucas and Sadie’s experience and I couldn’t get enough. Healing and character development are elements that Cate does well, and I can confidently say that The Heartbreaker embraced this standard and delivered a new favourite of the series. Both Lucas and Sadie were flawed and authentic, exhibiting a great deal of strength and vulnerability as they wrestled with their own needs, trauma, and history, and the simmering tension between them. And when that tension boiled over, oh boy! A+ Sara Cate!
After so many releases, you’d think you’d read it all, but Cate surprises every time. And all those tropes?! My 2024 TBR has been unexpectedly stacked with the surprise pregnancy trope, and this rendition did not disappoint—I fear I may have even tapped into a new favourite trope with this.
Over the last couple of years, I have loved tracking the direction of Cate’s skill and the stories shaped in relatable and resonating ways for their audience. Each release continues to be stronger and deeper, embracing every twist and intimate development that brings readers to their knees. Lucas and Sadie are no exception. These two were opposites in almost every way, and yet, their similarities spoke just as loudly as professional boundaries were crossed, and Lucas' caretaker tendencies drew him deeper toward Sadie's vulnerabilities. Cate has unpacked so much with these two, and I know many hearts will break—and mend—between these pages.
Seeped in boundary-pushing spice and wild with emotion, Professor Goode’s assigned reading dares you to toe the line in an all new slow-burning performance too good to pass up.
I received an advanced copy from the author, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Lucas and Sadie are unexpected. Lucas being the very regimented college professor of Sadie - who is his opposite in all of the ways and also...accidentally pregnant. Lucas surprises himself - and everyone who knows him - by inviting Sadie to occupy his spare room. What begins as Lucas helping Sadie gain independence and grow her confidence starts shifting into something more because who can resist a Goode man?
I love the soft Dom/brat dynamic they evolve into. Sadie is just sassy enough and Lucas is just bossy enough that pretty much every interaction is tinged with some kind of tension. I'd call this a slow burn but when they get there, after all that tension...SC just doesn't miss!
The character cameos from the previous books pulls everything together and continues the set-up for the next Goode brother - which I am *highly* anticipating!
Lucas Goode turned my world upside down. I knew that author will break my heart with angst in his story but believe me or not - I wasn't ready ! I loved to see how he evolved thru the pages, how he started to believe that love for him is also possible. He is a perfect grumpy hero to sweet and caring Sadie, who is really amazing heroine. She's having the biggest heart, but at the same moment she knows how to fight for everything she loves.
Their love story was a little different, didn't start in insta love way, but it was so refreshing - I could felt thru every single word how much love author put into this book. Goode Brothers might not had the best parents figure, but author managed this sensitive topic like a pro - she let them change and find happiness . Seeing this all in The Heart Breaker was the best thing to experience.
Let me entice you to read The Heartbreaker, by Sara Cate, her third installment of the Goode Brothers.
In Heartbreaker, we meet Lucas and Sadie, Sadie works at the club and Lucas is her grumpy English professor and as their two worlds collide, sparks fly, we are so here for it.
However, they are nothing alike, their Happenstance blooms into turns into the greatest relationship ever to be formed.
Sadie is a red headed, freckled- faced, firecracker whose life has always been one trying to appeal to others, until one-night changes it all.
Lucas Goode lives like he is married to his work, and his future is mapped out within his work until one student changes his life, in a GOODE way.
The grumpy professor makes me want to go back to school and learn all of the things, in so many ways.
By far this story exceeds my expectations, Sadie and Lucas were made for each other and I cannot wait for you to find out more.
