About this item

Best of friends with benefits—and more in common than they ever expected—in a funny and sexy romance by Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author Lauren Landish.

Wren Ford is the city attorney for Cold Springs—a job she takes seriously. Good thing she has a great form of stress relief: a friends-with-benefits arrangement with the well-muscled and very attentive construction worker Jesse Sullivan. Wren’s heart secretly craves more, but how can she fess up her feelings to a man who doesn’t want to get tied down?

Jesse is head over heels in love with Wren, but he can’t picture a happily ever after. What would an attorney and out-of-his-league goddess want with him? Especially when a flirty, cocky lawyer who screams money and power shows an interest in Wren.

As a scandalous high-profile split escalates from name-calling to corporate takeovers, Wren and Jesse must team up to find a way to protect the people and the town they love. And everyone in Cold Springs is rooting for them to figure out that maybe, against all odds, they’re made for each other.

Wren and Jesse were casual and comfortable with their arrangement. No strings and lots of s3x. It works for them, or rather it did, until it didn't and they grew apart.
Jesse's family is close and they mean everything to him. Wren grew up as the mayor's daughter, so there's that. Even though he's not the mayor now, her family is still well respected in Cold Springs. Wren has worked hard for her position as the city attorney and the respect she receives is well earned. Jesse works for her uncle Jeb at Ford's Construction running crews. Jesse's always believed that Wren was way out of his league and her ghosting him only solidified that truth.
When a housing development is brought to a standstill due to an indiscretion, the town of Cold Springs and it's residents are fearful for their livelihood. Just as Jesse and Wren reconnect, a slick lawyer has arrived to help, but this guy has his eyes on more than just his client, he wants the only woman Jesse has wanted for years. Wren.

Fantastic storyline with great main characters and a wide assortment of secondary characters that bring a lot to the table. Filled with tension, twists and emotion, this book flowed effortlessly. A brilliant, fast paced read that will leave you wanting more! I highly recommend this book!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Jesse and Wren

This was a fun book that felt a little less like a romance than a story about saving the town of Cold Springs from Jed Ford, again. Because of the focus on the divorce, it gave the plot a unique spin on the friends with benefits trope.

I loved Wren and Jesse. They were both so hung up on each other and their miscommunication led them to doubt they were enough for each other. I loved that both these successful, confident people could be so conflicted about their value. Wren was the city attorney and had made a name for herself in a male dominated career, but she was under the impression that she was “too much”. While Jesse, who grew up in a blue collar family and worked a blue collar job, felt like he wasn’t enough. I loved the juxtaposed of that. And I loved their continued support for each other.

There was plenty of humor in this book, I thought the first book had a little more humor, but this was still a great romcom. It was sweet and funny with a good sense of small town camaraderie. I loved how Jesse and Wren loved each other and how after they resolved the miscommunication they accepted each other and never doubted their feelings. Despite the miscommunication, they communicated very well after they finally got together.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good escape. It kept me interested and was one of those books that just makes you feel good. I loved the ending and thought it was well thought out. Jed finally got what was coming to him and I loved the way the take down came about!

I'm not one to usually read this genre of book. My tastes run a little, darker, lol. But this book? Oh, so good! The women are crazy as hell and so funny! The storyline had me so engaged that I inhaled this book. The FMc and MC had a chemistry that was smoking! Can't wait to read something else by Landish!

The conflict wasn’t about the relationship for once, which I found extremely refreshing. Instead, once we get past the misunderstanding and see Jesse and Wren settled, they behave like rational adults in a loving relationship. Hooray! And we get to enjoy a story of revenge.

This author does not disappoint. Loved the back and forth banter of Wren and Jesse. They were hilarious at times and made me laugh along with their supporting characters. The storyline was just so well written that it kept me reading from start to finish. The steamy scenes will make you want to fan yourself from beginning to end. Like I said this book does not disappoint so sit down and enjoy this story.

4.0 out of 5 stars cute story with a soft mystery and sexy parts

This isn’t a hard-hitting legal mystery, but there’s some lawyerly stuff in the plot and things for the protagonists to sort out. Very supportive of the strong, capable female. Not the “I’m always strong and I don’t know why I’m weak with him” theme we see in so many books, but the woman who does her job and the man who loves her for it. They support each other and have hot sex.

Not my personal favorite but a decent vacation read. Super easy to follow, unchallenging plot and standard vernacular. It would be a good book for young women if it weren’t for the naughty parts, which aren’t filthy compared to many mainstream “romance” novels but there’s some dirty talk and such.

Loved seeing the vulnerability in two very strong characters. Communication is the key to any relationship.

5.0 out of 5 stars So good!!!

I love Lauren Landish, but I honestly think this is my favorite book of hers. Jesse and Wren are the best couple! They appear like opposites but are actually perfect for each other. She's an attorney and he's a blue collar construction worker. But they are absolutely in love with each other. Everything about their relationship is cute but steamy.
