About this item

Searching for a fresh start and a serene place to heal from both mental and physical wounds, Agent Spenser Song found herself answering the job posting for the quaint town of Sweetwater Falls...

After a series of tragedies turned her world upside down, FBI Agent Spenser Song felt like a woman adrift in a sea of chaos.
Her brush with death and the tragic murder of her husband left her questioning everything in her life.
And when it became clear that Bureau politics will trump justice, Spenser realized she needed a fresh start.

Looking for a slower pace and needing to heal, Spenser is hired on to be the sheriff in the idyllic town of Sweetwater Falls.
The town is everything her best friend said it would be and all in the Falls was seemingly perfect.
With the exception of her cantankerous landlord, Ryker Makawi, a former Navy SEAL with issues and a past of his own.
When a local woman is murdered, the case proves to be far from simple and Spenser finds herself forced to work with the ill-tempered Ryker.

With her past trying to reach into the present to pull Spenser into a cold dark grave.
Spenser soon realized that the chaos she fled from had found its way back into her life.
Spenser Song came west to find peace. But the new girl in the Falls soon finds herself in the fight of her life.

Entertaining light weight reading. Ms Gray has a set of verbal idioms that prevail in character descriptions. I find that I look for eye color and body style as each character arrives in the story line. The formula for story writing of presentation, conflict, and resolution is followed very closely. In this particular story I did not see twists in the plot. Fun, light, reading…enjoy.

Loved the book. It was the most suspenseful one I have read in a long time. Storyline was great. The characters very like able except for the serial killer, of course. He was downright scary. Looking forward to reading similar stories by this author.

I really enjoyed the book. The author kept me interested and the mystery was intriguing as well as a bit disappointing. Many questions were never answered to my satisfaction. I enjoyed the dogs in the story as I am an animal lover. The book is a good vacation read.

Although the story in it self is not bad there are so many inaccuracies that I cringed all the way through. Lets start with the biggest inaccuracy. Coffee DOES NOT grow in Washington or anywhere in the USA for that matter. Unless you count Puerto Rico and Hawaii which are tropical islands. Its TOO COLD. Planting coffee bushes is such a climate its and exercise in futility. At the first frost it will kill the plants. Coffee is a tropical plant. It ONLY grows between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn with the equator in the middle between the two. Coffee needs constant humidity and temperature and grows the best in mountains. When its said that it grows in North America it means Mexico.

The police department description is a joke. Even tiny town police officers have training and have to pass tests to receive certification. An FBI agent even if is ex-FBI will know that contacting the FBI for any reason if only asking for information will bring the full force of the agency to town when a serial killer is identified.

I can keep going but its just too much. Its three starts because the premise was not a bad one. It was the way it was the developed.
