About this item

Wanted: hot billionaire to pose as my Christmas boyfriend. Must be willing to make my cheating ex jealous by kissing me under the mistletoe at holiday parties. Bonus if you make him cry.

To my surprise my billionaire boss is more than up for the challenge of coming down the chimney as my holiday boyfriend. The sexy single dad desperately needs a plus one at a Christmas Eve wedding, where he’s the best man and I’m the maid of honor.

And since my ex is in the wedding party too, my boss and I team up as a pair of insta-lovebirds for the holiday season, including during the annual week-long Christmas competition leading up to the snowy destination wedding.

But soon staying up late to string the best popcorn balls ever turns into a scorching night in his arms where the chestnuts aren’t the only thing roasting on the open fire.

Can all these winter wonderland nights seeking revenge turn into the real thing when we return to the office? Or are we destined to go the way of a Christmas tree on New Year’s?

Tropes: fake dating, billionaire, single dad, office romance, small town, holiday romance

Lauren Blakely captured all the magic of the season—with a steamy twist—in My Favorite Holidate, a swoon-worthy winter holiday romance. I listened to the audiobook, a full cast production narrated in duet by Samantha Brentmoor and Jason Clarke. Their natural chemistry ratcheted up the electricity between these characters and both Samantha and Jason turned in fantastic performances. Joined by Andi Arndt, Connor Crais, Vanessa Edwin, Andi Eloise, Teddy Hamilton, Erin Mallon, Noah B. Perez, Shakira Shute and Ryan West, this was a thoroughly entertaining and engaging holiday production.

This fake-dating, workplace romance between Wilder, a billionaire single dad, and his employee, Fable, is full of electric chemistry, playful banter, and a sexy build-up that’s as heartfelt as it is steamy. Blakely pulls out her full repertoire to skillfully weave the holiday and fake-dating themes into this story, creating a cozy, festive backdrop that makes this romance feel even more enchanting. A captivating mix of warmth, humor, and undeniable attraction, this holiday love story is a true seasonal treat! Five smooches from me for My Favorite Holidate by Lauren Blakely!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely LOVED This Book!!

I just love how Lauren Blakely writes romance! Her style sucks you into the story and it’s like you’re in the middle of it with the characters!
We met both Fable and Wilder in Thr Boyfriend Goal and The Romance Line. Fable is part of the BFF girl pack with Josie, Everly, and Maeve. Wilder I’d the owner of the Renegades football team and Fable’s boss. The girls have all thought Wilder had the hots for Fable, but she never believed them. Boy, were they right!!!
I thought their romance was fantastic! Even though it was a “fake romance” it never seemed like it. They were very real from the beginning.
Loved all the secondary characters! Wilder’s Aunt Bibi was so fun! Loved her spirit! His daughter, Mac, was one of the best parts of this story! Loved how Mac brought out the softer side of Wilder! Of course, having all of Fable’s BFF’s there was great! And her sister getting married to Wilder’s best friend was priceless!
The whole book kept me neglecting real life for awhile and I’m grateful for that! I couldn’t put it down!

3.0 out of 5 stars OK story, but it felt slow and plodding

The plot was okay for a "fake date" trope, the rationale for the main characters' fake dating was reasonable and believable, and the author's narrative voice is very readable.

However, it felt to me that this novel sort of plodded along - it definitely was a slow burn, romantically, for the first half of the novel - and there were some bits that were confusing to me, especially the very end. I kept finding myself distracted throughout the novel (even by housework!), which told me I wasn't fully engaged.

Anyway, it's enjoyable enough and contemporary romance fans might want to give it a go. My experience with/opinion of the novel are just that - mine alone!

4.0 out of 5 stars Wilder and Fable

This was a good holiday romance. It was a little long for my taste, but if you’re looking for a low angst, lighthearted holiday read, this fits the bill.

Fable and Wilder start a fake, holiday romance that seems to benefit both of them. It keeps Wilder’s aunt from setting him up on a date and shows Fable’s ex she’s moved on. They thought they had the perfect plan for the holidays, but they didn’t take their attraction into account. What began as a fake relationship quickly morphed into something that felt real to both Fable and Wilder.

There was a lot of back and forth between Fable and Wilder. They both had some trauma from their childhood that made them slow to trust when it came to love. They spent a lot of time running from their feelings internally, but when they finally allowed themselves to examine how they were feeling they had a beautiful relationship.

I liked the setting and the Christmas games. I loved all the secondary characters. And I really liked that I felt like Fable’s ex got the karma he deserved in the end. For the most part, I really liked this book.
