STANDALONE: A fragile single mom hiding secrets…while somebody’s hunting her down.
Camillo
She’s from a wealthy and privileged background.
And she never imagined she’d end up as a maid to a fierce mafia boss like me…
But she’s on the run and desperately needs to find safety.
And when I find out what she’s been hiding, it’s bigger than anything I’d ever imagined.
Because she has a small son—and he’s just as fragile as she is.
As I get to know them, I start to win their trust.
And my heart can’t help surrendering as it melts and thuds too fast for them both.
Because when I hold her in my arms, it finally feels like I’ve come home…
But I should have known we’d never get our happily ever after.
Because someone else is after her...
And he’ll stop at absolutely nothing to ensure he gets the evil ending he desires.

“What do I have to do to make you feel beautiful? What do I have to say to make you see yourself through my eyes? Whatever it is, I’ll do it a million times over until you believe me.”

A mafia-lite romance.
Standalone novel. HEA. No cheating by main characters. No cliffhanger.
Tropes and themes: single mom romance; Italian mafia romance books; curvy girl romance; forced proximity.

A bit slow in places but love the building of trust and love and especially Ethan and even the 3 brothers relationship

I like the premise but so much of this was harping on trauma and emotional abuse and body dysmorphia without any clear building to overcome it.

There was nothing super compelling and the character growth was stagnant at best. It got better when the child was brought into the mix and those scenes evoke the most emotion and response from the reader. Something the book should have had all the way through. Remove the child and this was bland at best.

The only thing I don't like about this book was how annoyingly submissive the fmc is. other than that I loved this book.

Finished the book in one day. It was that good. I could visualize each of the characters, and the dialog was very believable.

3.0 out of 5 stars I Tried

I really tried, but I had to DNF at 80%. There's trauma, and then there's making a tragic baby fawn caricature with multiple EDs who spends 90% of her time trying to make problems that don't exist.
I give up on her making the absolute dumbest decisions in the world.

Wow! What a powerful book. First I want to start out by saying if you are triggered even the slightest bit by eating disorders of any kind I would highly recommend skipping this book. It touches on the reality of what it’s like living with an eating disorder. I normally don’t have any topics that trigger me aside from animal abuse and I had several moments in this book where I had to put it down and remove myself from it for a few minutes to compose myself.

It doesn’t hold back from showing the real and raw difficulties people face every single day while battling disordered eating. The main female character was constantly being told she wasn’t enough. Being told she is never skinny enough, or pretty enough or good enough by her family. It was truly difficult to read at times because your heart just breaks right there along side these characters who so desperately just want to be loved for who they are.

This book follows Rosa, who is a young mom who is fleeing an abusive marriage. She finds herself looking for any job that will help put a roof over her head and keep her son Ethan safe from his biological father who is after them.

Rosa meets Camillo who was tasked by his brothers to find a maid to help take care of their property while his brother’s wives are out of the country.
He hires Rosa and what starts out as a complete and utter disaster actually ends up being a beautiful love story about two broken individuals falling in love with the shattered pieces of one another.

Camillo is the enforcer for the crime family he was born into, however he faces his own issues of feeling inadequate and like he isn’t worthy of being with Rosa. But once he slowly takes down his walls and takes a chance on Rosa they develop a beautiful relationship that surpasses all expectations. Camillo is determined to help bring Ethan out of the shell he hides in and works hard to earn his trust and love. And boy does he succeed ????

This book was a 5 star read for me, however I will say again if you are triggered by eating disorders then please take care of your mental health and skip this book. ????
