About this item

A dark paranormal/ fantasy romance from bestselling author, Sadie Kincaid.

Every few millennia, a child is born.

Some say they’re marked with a curse.
Others claim they possess the power of the ages.

Meet Ophelia Hart. Lover of classic literature and unicorns. An orphan with nobody in her corner—no family, no friends. But it’s her loneliness that fuels her life’s ambition to become a social worker and help the forgotten children just like her. For a foster kid with only slightly above-average grades, it feels like a pipe dream.

Except it seems that someone is looking out for Ophelia after all. When an unexpected opportunity to attend Montridge University arises, she thinks her life is finally taking a turn for the better.

Too bad she comes to the attention of the three ruthless, arrogant commanders of the Ruby Dragon Society. Three of the most feared and powerful vampires on campus.

But Ophelia doesn’t believe in vampires. Or in witches, or magic, or ancient prophecies.

Until she has no choice. Little does she know, she’s about to have her whole world turned upside down. Because there is something about Ophelia Hart. Something that captures not only the attention of the Ruby Dragon commanders, but also their powerful, enigmatic sire—Professor Alexandros Drakos.

With no idea of the power running through her veins, Ophelia must learn to trust the very men whom all others fear. And she needs to do it fast, for there are darker forces at work than those at Montridge University. Forces that were long ago Forged in Blood.

Forged in Blood is book one in a trilogy. Books 1 and 2 end on cliffhangers and book 3 is a HEA.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Enthralling Mix of Vampires, Magic, and Romance – A Must-Read for Paranormal Lovers!

Sadie Kincaid’s *Forged in Blood* is the perfect blend of dark academia, mystery, steamy romance, and paranormal fantasy that I didn’t know I needed! The world she’s created at Montridge University is intoxicating, filled with magic, vampires, and secrets lurking behind every corner.

The protagonist, Ophelia, is a strong and relatable freshman who dwells in loneliness but is determined to help others and become a social worker because of her orphaned upbringing. But when she encounters the dangerous yet alluring Axl, Xavier, and Malachi from the Ruby Dragon Society, everything she thought she knew begins to unravel. The dynamics between them are electric—Axl and Xavier start out as bullies, but the way they, along with Malachi, eventually fall for Ophelia makes for a thrilling romantic ride. And let’s talk about Malachi—he captured my heart right away! But it’s Professor Alexandros Drakos who truly stole the show. He’s the perfect brooding, tortured hero, and by the end, you’ll be absolutely swooning for more.

Kincaid’s writing is rich, sexy, and keeps you hooked from page one. Her transition into paranormal fantasy romance is seamless, and I’m already eager to see what comes next in this spellbinding series! If you love mystery, vampires, and why choose romance, *Forged in Blood* is a must-read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Smutty and Addictive

Was it a lil cringe?
Yes.
Was it filthy?
Yes.
Did the end scene make me add the next book to my list?
Yes again.

It's smutty, (at times a little overboard ) it's got lore, handsome men, a curvy girl, and suspense. Uh, yes please!
I would say, if this book had some epic world building, more details on characters, plot, if the FMC was smarter, less cringe sayings, situations, etc, this would be a 5 star. IF it had those improvements. There were times I couldn't really picture areas/people and for me that will never earn a 5th star. But it's entertaining to say the least!

I was compelled to finish this book in one sitting. This novel is gripping and when you think of a fantasy romance novel this book fills ALL of those checkmarks and then some. Like this author was challenged she couldn’t write a good fantasy novel, and then crushed whoever dared challenged her and then some. This book will be in my mind for months to come living rent free.

Ophelia, Axl, Xavier, Kai, and even the professor dynamic relationship sucks you in. From the 1st sentence you are enchanted with unmatched ease anyone can create the world that the author has described so articulately in their minds eye. The emotions bared in this book can suck your soul right out. No one should ever endure Ophelia’s life, and I emphasize with her greatly. Axl and Xavier however, can kick rocks for sure in the beginning those arses! They have a lot of making up to do for sure.

I’m dying to know more about the Order, the professors back story and even the guys. Although I have a suspicion the witches are up to something. The wolves I have decided on where they lie with this plot yet. There are other powers at play for sure that are tied to Ophelia’s destiny, no doubt.

Fair warning if you do not like cliffhangers then wait until the next book is released. I cannot speak for the 2nd book since it’s not out yet if it also will end in such a sheer cliffhanger.

3.0 out of 5 stars Captivating Romance and Plot idea Overshadowed by Gaps in an Intriguing but Confusing Plot
Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2024
In this intriguing novel, I found myself drawn into the fascinating storyline and captivating plot, which kept me turning the pages eagerly. The author expertly weaves romance and smut in a way that's engaging and satisfying, offering a balance that many readers will undoubtedly appreciate.

However, my journey through the story wasn't without its challenges. While I understand the author's intent to create suspense and maintain an air of mystery, I felt that too much crucial information was left out. This lack of detail often left me struggling to fully grasp the plot, leading to confusion at times. It seems that certain elements, which were vital to understanding the unfolding narrative, were either glossed over or omitted entirely.

As a result, the plot left me with numerous unanswered questions. The gaps in information made it challenging to connect the dots and truly immerse myself in the story's full potential. I believe that with a bit more detail, the suspense and mystery could have been preserved without sacrificing clarity.

Despite these hurdles, the romantic elements and smut were well-executed, adding depth to the character relationships and providing moments of genuine connection within the story. These aspects of the novel were a bright spot, showcasing the author's talent in crafting emotional and intimate scenes.

Overall, while I enjoyed the foundation of the storyline and the relationship dynamics, the missing details held the narrative back from being a truly seamless experience. For those who appreciate romance and don't mind a few lingering questions, this book might offer an enjoyable read. However, readers seeking a fully fleshed-out plot may find themselves a bit frustrated, confused and yearning for more answers.
