About this item

A dark paranormal/ fantasy romance from bestselling author, Sadie Kincaid.

Every few millennia, a child is born.

Some say they’re marked with a curse.
Others claim they possess the power of the ages.

Meet Ophelia Hart. Lover of classic literature and unicorns. An orphan with nobody in her corner—no family, no friends. But it’s her loneliness that fuels her life’s ambition to become a social worker and help the forgotten children just like her. For a foster kid with only slightly above-average grades, it feels like a pipe dream.

Except it seems that someone is looking out for Ophelia after all. When an unexpected opportunity to attend Montridge University arises, she thinks her life is finally taking a turn for the better.

Too bad she comes to the attention of the three ruthless, arrogant commanders of the Ruby Dragon Society. Three of the most feared and powerful vampires on campus.

But Ophelia doesn’t believe in vampires. Or in witches, or magic, or ancient prophecies.

Until she has no choice. Little does she know, she’s about to have her whole world turned upside down. Because there is something about Ophelia Hart. Something that captures not only the attention of the Ruby Dragon commanders, but also their powerful, enigmatic sire—Professor Alexandros Drakos.

With no idea of the power running through her veins, Ophelia must learn to trust the very men whom all others fear. And she needs to do it fast, for there are darker forces at work than those at Montridge University. Forces that were long ago Forged in Blood.

Forged in Blood is book one in a trilogy. Books 1 and 2 end on cliffhangers and book 3 is a HEA.

Sadie Kincaid’s *Forged in Blood* is the perfect blend of dark academia, mystery, steamy romance, and paranormal fantasy that I didn’t know I needed! The world she’s created at Montridge University is intoxicating, filled with magic, vampires, and secrets lurking behind every corner.

The protagonist, Ophelia, is a strong and relatable freshman who dwells in loneliness but is determined to help others and become a social worker because of her orphaned upbringing. But when she encounters the dangerous yet alluring Axl, Xavier, and Malachi from the Ruby Dragon Society, everything she thought she knew begins to unravel. The dynamics between them are electric—Axl and Xavier start out as bullies, but the way they, along with Malachi, eventually fall for Ophelia makes for a thrilling romantic ride. And let’s talk about Malachi—he captured my heart right away! But it’s Professor Alexandros Drakos who truly stole the show. He’s the perfect brooding, tortured hero, and by the end, you’ll be absolutely swooning for more.

Kincaid’s writing is rich, sexy, and keeps you hooked from page one. Her transition into paranormal fantasy romance is seamless, and I’m already eager to see what comes next in this spellbinding series! If you love mystery, vampires, and why choose romance, *Forged in Blood* is a must-read.

I thought that this was a good book, the characters were interesting, the romance was good, the plot was interesting and kept me invested on reading and finding out what was going to happen. I do think that some moments the dialogue was a bit iffy, like I felt things could have been worded less cheesy but overall I didn’t mind it and thought that it was a fun read for me. I do recommend checking this book out if you’re interested in paranormal school settings. I usually don’t read those but this one was definitely a fun one to read.

Sadie Kincaid's Forged in Blood had me hooked from the very first page. Ophelia is a bit of an outcast but she immediately captured my heart, and I couldn’t help but love how she always seemed to stumble right into trouble. There’s something about her strength and vulnerability that drew me in, making me root for her as she navigates a world full of danger and intrigue.

The four vampires? Each one was written so uniquely, standing out with their own personalities, yet coming together to create this magnetic, intense dynamic with Ophelia. Sadie takes all the familiar vampire and paranormal lore and spins it into something truly fresh and exciting, making this why-choose romance a standout. The tension, the stakes, and—of course—the spice are all off the charts, making it impossible to put down.

With just one book, Sadie Kincaid has proven herself as a formidable force in the paranormal romance genre. There’s danger, passion, and a whole lot of heat in Forged in Blood, and it’s an absolute must-read. I can’t wait to dive into the rest of the series!

When Ophelia begins her freshman year at Montridge University, it’s a new start; an opportunity for her to make friends for the first time, and the first step in her dream to become a social worker to support and care for foster children like her. But ancient prophesies, bound magic, the reappearance of her high school bully, and the discovery of the existence of the paranormal change everything. There is more to Ophelia than the lonely foster child.

I adored Ophelia! The lonely bookworm, bullied and traumatized, and distrustful of others, but still with a heart of kindness and caring; Ophelia has a quiet strength and boundless curiosity that quickly had me invested in her character.

As a dark romance with an enemies to lovers trope, it comes as no surprise that the three vampire commanders of the Ruby Dragon Society, Axl, Xavier, and Malachi, are curiously drawn to Ophelia and feel protective of her, yet bully her as well. It’s clear that Professor Alexandros Drakos, the boys’ sire, knows more about what is going on with Ophelia’s hidden power than he is telling, and while pulling the strings in the boys’ interactions with Ophelia, is himself drawn to her. Despite his ancient knowledge, there are many question that remain unanswered for him as well as hints of past trauma.

With the exception of Malachi, who has an inherent sweetness, the other vampires are easy to dislike with their cruelty and only small flashes of goodness, during most of the book. Which makes the character development of these four vampires enthralling, and it’s not over yet! I can’t wait to se what happens in book 2!
