About this item

Stars. Lovers. Liars. Killers. This is Hollywood, and everyone has a part to play in a shocking novel of suspense by New York Times bestselling author A. R. Torre.

Actress Nora Kemp loves two men. One is Hugh Iverson, a philanthropic movie star who gives Nora security and respectability. The other is Hugh’s twin brother, Trent, a Hollywood bad boy who brings out Nora’s wild side. When Trent and an unidentified woman are found dead on the Iversons’ Beverly Hills property, more than Nora’s and Hugh’s reputations are at stake.

An investigation suggests murder-suicide. But there’s more to the crime than first meets the eye: suspicions of a serial killer with a bizarre motive, Hugh’s unnerved and cautious staff, and a missing mother and son. As two LA detectives sift through the deceptions of the innocent and the guilty—some living and some dead—solving the case becomes a cunning cat-and-mouse game.

Because in a city of illusions, the truth—no matter how dangerous—is so easy to hide.

This is a great read, twists and turns that I did not see coming! A lot going on in this book with the twins and “the leading lady”, the dysfunctional families, highly recommend!

I really enjoyed this story, told mostly in chronological order. There were many twists and turns, keeping reader's interest. A sequel would be nice!

It was OK! The storyline was all right to me. It was a little bit messy, but I will read other books to miss author again.

Definitely kept my attention. I listened to it in one day. The ending was good but not great. For me it didn’t have a lot shock factor. As twists were revealed I’d just kind of shrug and think “okay makes sense now.” Some plot points felt a little underdeveloped. Still work the listen. Especially since you can read and listen for free with Kindle Unlimited.

5.0 out of 5 stars An award winning performance

    It’s showtime. Lights, camera, action.

When a double murder investigation sends detectives to the mansion of a high profile A list celebrity Farrah and Kevin aren’t sure if they can believe what Hugh and Nora are telling them. Afterall, actors are good at pretending.

A Fatal Affair has many intricate pieces. AR Torre designed a well thought out plan on how to build the case. She starts by identifying the players and assigning them roles. Second she separates the teams. There’s the detectives working on uncovering the truth about Trent and then there’s Kyle Pepper working to locate his son Miles. Finally there’s finding the right people to question who know these identical twins best.

A Fatal Affair is a time sensitive investigation. Detectives are dealing with multiple players. They need to pull all there resources together to figure out the connection between Kerry Pepper and Trent Iverson.

AR Torre knows her way around a fast paced thriller. I loved all the players. Ms. Torre’s writing voice gets better and better. The twists were an unexpected surprise. I enjoyed this book. From the moment I opened the first page until the last I was hooked.

    Narrator:
Nancy Peterson is the solo female performer. The best way to experience any book in this day and age is by listening to a seasoned voice actor giving you their best performance. I personally enjoy owning both audiobook and ebook so I can follow along while the narrator reads the book to me. I listened using the audible app at 2.1x speed. This is an unabridged audiobook making it easy to follow and listen.

Plot twist that I suspected but never happened. Then suddenly, there it was after I thought it wasn’t going to happen. I love that!

This was a great book of twists and turns and twins and love and murder. Character development, writing, backtracking, backstabbing and chaos all make the read a good one.

It’s nice to read a mystery that thickens even as it’s solved. I’m excited to look more into A. R. Torre now that I’m don’t with this book. Fingers crossed there’s more stories to read like this!
