More Than a Feeling is the newest in Maya Alden's Modern Vintage Romance series, and this one fits in just fine. A bit disappointing at the end, but overall, if you liked the previous books, you'll enjoy this one.
Callum and Fleur begin the book by breaking up. Callum is busy supporting his late brother's widow, Sabine, and takes Fleur for granted. He ignores her for Sabine, and by the break up, says things he shouldn't have in order to salve his ego. Fleur has been underestimated by her family for as long as she's lived, and when Callum chooses Sabine over her, she decides to move on. Too bad Callum didn't get the memo.
The characters are ok, Fleur being intelligent but a people pleaser when it comes to her family. She 'fights for the scraps of attention' from them and from Callum and when she finally finds her backbone, Callum treats it as if she's just throwing a tantrum. Callum is my least favorite of Ms. Alden's MMCs. Part of me wanted him to wander into the sunset with Sabine and find his unhappily ever after with her while Fleur and Jax (from a previous book) hook up and make beautiful, smart, and athletic babies, all while Callum drinks expensive whiskey and pines for the one that he threw away. But since it's a Maya Alden book, you know Callum and Fleur get back together and I'm ok with that. My only issue was how quick the ending was. Even under the circumstances, the ending was too short. Not enough time was given to the resolution. We got the HEA, but I wanted to know the details of how they got there. It's a fairly short book, but I think she could have added two more chapters to fill in the gaps and it wouldn't have made it much longer.
Overall, it's a solid read, one that I've already reread twice. Engaging beginning, not the best ending, but great read.
