About this item
Roping horses leads to riding cowboys in this sexy friends-to-lovers, fake-dating, lessons-in-seduction romance by Jessica Peterson.
Wyatt Rivers is the perfect no-strings hookup—a cowboy Casanova who rocks a Stetson, looks smokin’ hot in his Wranglers, and never rests his head on the same pillow twice.
He’s exactly what I’m looking for. If only Wyatt wasn’t also my best friend…
I’m back in my hometown of Harstville, Texas, for a few months while I wait for my dream job to start thousands of miles away. While I’m here, I hope to end an epic dry spell in the bedroom, preferably with a local cowboy. If the rumors are true, they really do ride harder and stay on longer.
Wyatt and I have been best friends since second grade, and I’ve been in love with him for almost as long. But he’s as wild and untamed as a colt that can’t be broken—not to mention, totally out of my league with his good looks and heartbreaker reputation.
Then I get to thinking: since Wyatt is such an expert, why doesn’t he teach me the ropes of how to find a hookup? He begrudgingly agrees, and a little fake flirting suddenly leads to fake dating, which leads to real kissing, which leads to real…well, everything else.
And let me just say, the rumors are absolutely true.
Now, I want so badly to be Wyatt’s last rodeo. But I’m leaving town, and even if I wasn’t, I’m not sure Wyatt would ever change his playboy ways.
I know cowboys can’t be tamed. Apparently, neither can hearts…
WYATT is an interconnected standalone novel in the Lucky River Ranch series.

Wyatt Rivers is the ultimate cowboy charmer—funny, caring, and maybe a little too good at avoiding commitment. But when his lifelong best friend Sally returns to their small Texas town, everything changes.
Sally is focused on her next career move, but before she leaves, she’s determined to shake up her love life. Wyatt is the perfect person to guide her through the local dating scene, but their “lessons” quickly turn into something much more real. Their chemistry is undeniable, and watching them go from friends to lovers is as sweet as it is spicy.
Wyatt’s emotional journey adds a lot of depth to the story. His grief and hesitation to open up make him feel real, and it’s clear how much Sally means to him. Sally is equally strong and relatable—she knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to ask for it. Together, they balance each other perfectly.
One of the best things about this book is how Wyatt and Sally handle their relationship without the typical third-act breakup. Instead, they work through their issues like adults, which makes their connection feel even stronger. The little moments between them, like Wyatt going all out to plan the perfect date, are guaranteed to make you smile.
Jessica Peterson delivers a great mix of small-town charm, family dynamics, and just the right amount of heat in this friends-to-lovers romance. Wyatt and Sally’s story is heartfelt, steamy, and leaves you rooting for their happily ever after.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cowboy romance for the win!
Wyatt and Sally are perfection! I absolutely loved this friends to lovers small town romance. It had me laughing, swooning and feeling all the emotions while reading it. The natural banter and mutual attraction these two had was leaping off the pages!
I loved the growth Wyatt goes through in the book. He went through so much at a young age with losing his parents. This made him very gaurded with his heart but he always had a soft spot for Sally and when he finally lets his walls down fully he realizes what he always knew but was to scard to admit out loud, and that was he was in love with Sally and wanted to be with her. The progression of these two from friends to lovers was done perfectly.
Sally was just a fantastic FMC and I loved that she builds her confidence up throughout the book and learns to say what she wants and goes for it. She realizes that she has been living/ working towards a dream that wanst necessarily what she wanted anymore and when she figures out what her new goal/dream is she is strong in her feelings and goes for it. She finally has found the person and life she wants with Wyatt, and she isn't letting it slip through her fingers.

4.0 out of 5 stars I ADORE Lucky Rivers Ranch!
"You're like sunshine, ya know? Sounds cheesy, but it's true. I always feel so much better when you're around" ... Her swallow is audible. "I'll be your sunshine anytime, Wyatt."
Wyatt and Sally's story was definitely not one I saw coming, but I absolutely fell in love. I mean, I was already in love with everyone I met from Cash's story, but truly getting to know Wyatt ... I think I fell in love with him just as hard as Sally did.
Wyatt never seemed like he truly cared about anything - he was the clever playboy, just gliding through life. When getting to know him, though, it seems that he cares deeply and he carries a lot of sadness from the loss of his mom. Sally, his long proclaimed best friend, is back in town and in need of Wyatt's help - specifically his expertise in the dating arena.
As these two navigate their friendship, and fake relationship, in the light of adulthood they realize that budding within their friendship, was the love they've both been seeking for a long time. As much of opposites as they are, it is this opposition that brings out the best in both of them. Through this adventure, they each really leaned into their love and formed this beautiful relationship.
"Why didn't you tell me? ... You had so much to do. So many things to accomplish. You've always aimed so high, and I wasn't going to stand in your way. ... Don't make me quite the corniest-slash-best love song ever written.
Ever consider you could never ever hold me back, even if you tried? You're not a roadblock, Wyatt. You're the wind beneath my freaking wings."
Throughout the whole story, I laughed, cried, swooned, and yet again wished I was friends with these fantastic people. This family continues to surprise me with their depth, created family, and how they navigate their trials to come out on the other side finding beauty.
