About this item

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn comes a new forced proximity, single dad romantic comedy. This steamy, laugh out loud, enemies-to-lovers, small town standalone romance delivers the perfect happily ever after.

What does one do when they completely blow an interview?
If you're me, you pick up a one-night stand with the most gorgeous man you've ever seen..

That's right, after a lousy interview that could have changed everything for me, I headed over to the local small town bar to sulk when the one man I shouldn't want walked in. And when my friend convinced me to take him back to my hotel room, I didn't think about it, I just did it . . . well, I did
him.

It was an unforgettable night, but I didn't stay for breakfast. Instead, I got out of there and tried not to think about him again.

Everything was fine until I received a call from the interviewer saying I got the job as the assistant baseball coach at Almond Bay High. I'd be working directly under the one and only Ryland Rowley--my one-night stand.

Now, I'm not only working with him but renting the apartment above his garage. And I have to deal with the fact that he's the man I dream about and can't have while not letting my attraction get in the way of keeping the harmony between us. Sounds easy, doesn't it?

It should have been, except the plan falls apart when my shower breaks, and night after night I have to slip into his house to use the bathroom only to find him in the kitchen, staring me down with those hungry, single dad eyes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Do yourself a favor and read the whole series

This was everything I love in a Meghan Quinn book (emotion, humor, spice) and so much more. This one was heavy on the emotion for both Ryland and Gabby as they worked out their feelings for each other, but also the trauma of their childhoods. The humor came from the sibling text threads but also the guy friends. Reading this one made me sad to see the Almond Bay series end. However, I have a feeling we’ve met some new main characters and that there are more baseball books around the corner, which I cannot wait for. But Meghan you did not have to go there with that epilogue, yet I’m so glad you did!

I also want to add that when I read “The Way I Hate Him” in 2023 I liked it, but I didn’t rush to read “The Reason I Married Him” in 2024 (but I also was reading a lot of ARcs). However, reading book two right before reading “The Path to Loving Him”, made me fall in love with this whole series. It makes me want to read them all again from the beginning, back to back. I was sad that we only got to know Cassidy in this series through her siblings, but as this series ends I realized that she really was the main character and I love that. As a whole series, this goes on my list of Meghan Quinn all time favorite series. I adore it enough to add the paperbacks to my collection (I already had the hardcover editions for the first two and all the eBooks, but now I need those new covers).

5.0 out of 5 stars The Emotions ????????⚾️
Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2025
Ummm ya, I'm kind of lost for words. Now I'm totally used to Meghan's Agitators and the Christmas one as well as the Bridesmaid series, so this one totally threw me for a curveball ???? ( see what I did there with the baseball lingo..... sorry totally in my dad joke era ????) Anyways this was my first in the Almond Bay series, and honestly, I'm kind of glad it was. This one had me ugly crying and no joke cause I legit kept being asked why I was crying. To which I said this book is putting me in all the feels. I already have the first two in the series being added to be read soon cause I think I just need more crying, I guess. But honestly, the writing was one of my favorites because of the emotions that it pulled out of me. Now I'm not saying everyone will cry as much as I did cause I tend to cry a lot of the time at books, but don't be shocked if you tear up. (Especially during the epilogue, legit water falls from my eyes ???????????????? but so good) I am forever thankful to have the opportunity to read such heartwarming stories. But BRB, while I go read a rom com cause ya girl needs some laughs after the emotions

4.0 out of 5 stars gotta love two idiots denying their feelings for each other

if your love language is acts of service, this is the book for you.

this book follows the story of Gabby and Ryland, and how life keeps throwing them together. they have a one night stand, and they both think they will never see each other again. even though this is a bit disappointing for both since it was the best sex they've ever had (their words not mine). but, to their surprise, Gabby gets a job in Almond Bay, and moves into the apartment above Ryland's garage. then her shower breaks, and she has to shower in Ryland's guest bathroom. and they cannot keep their hands off each other. but then Ryland learns Gabby will be his new assistant coach and he is not happy. the two then participate in the enemies to lovers trope, but it doesn't last very long since they just have such a good connection. they eventually give in and accept their feelings for each other and begin an amazing relationship.

i love that after every time they hook up they say 'this is the last time. we won't do it again' and they proceed to do it again. i love it when two idiots are in denial of their feelings for each other. it's so cute that they seem to truly believe it will be the last time (spoiler alert: it isn't).

the banter in this book is also top tier. the tension that they have just heightens all of their emotions, and it leads to so much sexually charged banter and I am HERE FOR IT. i also just love that they can't seem to stay away from each other no matter what they do. either they purposefully do something to bring them closer, or the universe steps in.

what i like most about their story is that they really helped each other out. when her shower broke, he let her use the guest bathroom in his house. when she got hurt, he dropped everything to help her. she was there whenever his niece wanted to play with her, and to help him clean and reorganize his house.

i also absolutely loved the relationship between Mac and Ryland. he would do anything in the world to make her happy, and she looks at him like he hung the stars. (view spoiler)

I recommend this book for anyone whose love language is acts of service, who loves a spicy small town romance, and who wants to see the sweetest relationship Ryland has with his niece.

thank you to meghan quinn and good girls pr for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC!

A heartfelt and spicy baseball-themed romance, Meghan Quinn hits it out of the park with The Path to Loving Him! Ryland, a dedicated high school baseball coach, teacher and single dad/guardian who is raising niece after the tragic passing of his sister, finds his world turned upside down when Gabby, his fiery and confident newly hired—unbeknownst to him!—assistant coach and he realizes that she is his tenant in the new house he just bought for his niece, Mac, and himself.

The sizzling one-night stand they shared before she’s offered the job ignites this sizzling, enemies-to-lovers romance. Full of electric chemistry and emotional depth, Meghan masterfully balances her signature humor with heat and heartfelt moments, crafting an authentic and entertaining small-town love story that kept me smiling from cover to cover. I listened to the audiobook, narrated in duet by Samantha Brentmoor and Sebastian York, who did an incredible job bringing these characters to life in my ears! Five smooches from me for The Path to Loving Him by Meghan Quinn!
