About this item

“How many loves do you get in a lifetime?”

She is a beautiful, affluent, self-involved, and mildly neurotic London socialite. He is Britain’s most photographed bad boy who broke her heart.

Magnolia Parks and BJ Ballentine are meant to be, and everyone knows it.

She dates other people to keep him at bay; he sleeps with other girls to get back at her for it. But at the end of every sad endeavor to get over one another, it’s still each other they crawl back to.

But now their dysfunction is catching up with them, pulling at their seams and fraying the world they’ve built; a world where neither has ever let the other go completely.

As the cracks start to show and secrets begin to surface, Magnolia and BJ are finally forced to face the formidable question they’ve been avoiding all their lives: How many loves do you really get in a lifetime?

Excited to read the series and glad it came so quickly but disappointed the book is damaged. It looks like the back cover got folded over/creased and sat there for a while. It’s so indented now that I’m scared it may tear or rip.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Drama-Filled Romance I Couldn't Put Down!

Magnolia and BJ have a hold on me and I don't know when I will know peace. This has to be one of the most toxic relationships I have read about and I honestly just eat this type of romance up! haha. This story follows BJ and Magnolia who grew up together and dated for five years until BJ unexpectedly cheats on Magnolia. Three years later, BJ and Magnolia are still best friends but have the strangest relationship. Magnolia serial fake dates people to put on a façade and BJ is constantly hooking up with girls. They both try to get back at each other which creates an endless, unhealthy cycle of them fighting and making up.

Like I said, this is an extremely toxic relationship and this book will definitely not be for everyone. It is frustrating and heartbreaking, but for a toxic relationship, Jessa Hastings did a wonderful job. I agree with everyone describing this as High London Society Gossip Girl, which I loved Gossip Girl so no surprise I loved this. I absolutely adored the world of these rich young adults and the whole box set friend group. There is so much drama but I love it. I am so invested in Magnolia and BJ and the ending was brutal. I needed more of them immediately. They have to have a happy ending, right?!? I can't wait to devour the next two books even though I have a feeling Magnolia Parks: The Long Way Home will break my heart even more!

Oh, how my blood pressure went up reading this book! There was a point, about 120 pages or so in, that I had to cut away and read another book to calm my nerves. Then, in a maneuver to avoid it further, I found another book to read. After 2 in-between reads, I reluctantly ventured back into Magnolia Parks. It was a forced endeavor. And once I picked it back up, I couldn't put it back down.

The impact of this book will sneek up on you with a high you won't feel coming, but you'll enjoy the heck out of it the second it kicks in. It's euphoric. I've never read a book quite like this. It frustrated me in the best way. It made my plams sweaty and my nerves scorch.

This is only book 1 in a 5 book (thus far) series! What the heck did I get myself into?!?! Whatever it is - I'M IN! Holy jeez, is this a ride! The toxicity that is Magnolia and BJ is addictive, heartbreaking, and utterly maddening. Jessa Hastings is a masterful author/ storyteller. Her writing is supreme. The humor is top-tier. Her character dialog is spectacular. For as much as I wanted to SCREAM (and pull out some of my hair) while reading this - I also, enthusiastically, want to jump with joy in gratitude that this book exists.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ferris Wheel of Dysfunction

You know when you touch fire, you're going to get burned? The characters in this book are missing a pain response because they touch the fire repeatedly.

This is a childhood friend to lovers. This book is filled with a vicious cycle of jealousy, lies, and cheating.
BJ and Magnolia have been each others everything since they were young. Until BJ makes a fatal mistake and cheats. Their entire lives are so woven together, they can't stay away from each other. She has boyfriends that she doesn't sleep with, just to make him jealous. He is Londons f boy. They seemingly get off by hurting each other, and they dont know how to love without the pain.

All BJ wants is Magnolia, yet his pants never can manage to stay on long enough for him to regain her trust.
I had to remind myself that the characters are in their early 20s and don't yet have the neurons to make sensible decisions.

This book was frustratingly addicting. I think I hate it, but I also love it. I don't know what drugs the author put in the pages, but I couldn't put this book down. The book ended on a cliffhanger, so I will likely be spending the latter part of this month devouring this series.
