About this item
He’s my sister’s ex, a stubborn jerk, and completely off-limits.
Getting a man to give up custody of a son he didn’t know existed should have been easy. Trouble is, nothing with JP King is ever easy.
Suave, grumpy billionaires aren’t supposed to have strong hands or filthy mouths, and I never expected our snippy banter to be so much fun.
JP regards me as something he scraped off the bottom of his dress shoe, but when this reluctant single dad looks at my nephew, there’s a softness there he struggles to keep hidden.
He may be gruff and uptight, but something simmers beneath his controlled, polished exterior. Sure, I’m wild and reckless, but when we’re forced together as guardians, everything changes.
His cold and calculated exterior melts into hushed conversations and lingering stares. The more we fight, the harder we fall.
I’m scatterbrained, unconventional, and everything he’s been missing. The closer we get, the less we understand why we were ever at odds.
. . . until just like that our lives are turned upside down. From the Publisher

5.0 out of 5 stars A new King is in town. ♾️
What brought this Scrooge his fairytale ending? Enter Hazel and Teddy, the child he never knew he may have fathered and his aunt. Hazel is a free spirited wanderer who’s trying to find her place in the world while figuring out how to be an unexpected guardian to Teddy after her late sister wills her to do so. Hazel brings Teddy to Outtatowner to attempt to get to know the father he’s never met and sparks fly instantly between her and JP. We watch them navigate their new found attraction to one another and try to decide whether or not to cross the line and complicate an already confusing situation. The tension is so palpable between the two of them I was audibly cheering for them to get together. And babbyyyyy when that tension snaps, it REALLY SNAPS. The MOUTH on this man was sinful. Lena does a dirty mouth like nobody’s business and boyyyy does JP have one on him. Ate. It. Up. No notes. ???????????????????????????????? On top of writing the most deliciously dirty men, my favorite part of Lena’s books are the incredible cast of characters that are so prismatic. They’re the true definition of found family and without all of their appearances in each installment it wouldn’t be the same. Watching them all grow into their own little units while still being bonded to each other as a whole, now as both families together as well, is heartwarming. The twists in this book also surprised me in the best way, the entertainment factor of this series is unmatched. I’ve said it before, I will happily say it again, I love this town, I love these families, I love these characters and I am going to be truly saddened to see it go…. But first…I can’t wait to see how our sweet little MJ closes the series out. You already know this y’all, I am forever a Lena STAN and now I am forever a JP King STAN, ♾️ stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars JP & Hazel

5.0 out of 5 stars JP is the KING of redemption arcs!
JP King has always been the more closed-off King sibling and we never really knew much about him because he didn’t quite bond with his siblings like they all connected with each other. They all thought he was just a carbon copy of his father, but seeing him in this story showed a whole new side to him. Finding out he had a son was a shock to him, but watching him bond with Teddy throughout this story was so sweet. He was so sure that he was just like his own father and couldn’t be a wonderful dad, but once he started to let his guard down around Teddy, he could connect with him in such a beautiful way. As for Hazel, she was a free spirit, but I love that she was ready and willing to quell that for Teddy and what was best for him. He might not have been her biological son, but I love that she treated Teddy like he was more than her nephew, and that she was straight up with him all the time, even though he was young. And Teddy was the sweetest kid ever! He was so much like JP, and it was adorable watching them connect over their similarities.
Okay, JP King, coming in blazing hot with his f!lthy mouth, too?! It was so perfectly unexpected and I loved every second…and so did Hazel! Seeing Hazel bring out his d!rty side was great because it was great to see JP let loose a little. JP was also hiding a heart of gold behind his walls, but it was amazing watching Hazel and Teddy bring that side of him out, too. Hazel and her free spirited ways were the opposite of JP’s tight-laced control, but that was exactly what he needed in his life to help him open up to everyone more.
I loved this story so much and it was so fun to see a new side of JP King. Hazel and Teddy brought out such a fun side of him, but he didn’t change his entire personality just for them. I love that Hazel finally found someone who she could slow her life down for…well, 2 someones. This was such a well-deserved story for JP, and I love that he got such a beautiful happy ending in his life after having to tough things out for his family most of his life. While I’ll be so sad that the series is ending, I also can’t wait to see what MJ gets up to in her story!
