About this item

The nightmare she’s running from is nothing compared to where she’s headed.

Tegan is
eight months pregnant, alone, and desperately wants to put her crumbling life in the rearview mirror. So she hits the road, planning to stay with her brother until she can figure out her next move. But she doesn’t realize she’s heading straight into a blizzard.

She never arrives at her destination.

Stranded in rural Maine with a
dead car and broken ankle, Tegan worries she’s made a terrible mistake. Then a miracle occurs: she is rescued by a couple who offers her a room in their warm cabin until the snow clears.

But something isn’t right. Tegan believed she was waiting out the storm, but as time ticks by, she comes to realize
she is in grave danger. This safe haven isn’t what she thought it was, and staying here may have been her most deadly mistake yet.

And now she must do whatever it takes to save herself—and her unborn child.

A gut-wrenching story of motherhood, survival, and twisted expectations, #1
New York Times bestselling author Freida McFadden delivers a snowbound thriller that will chill you to the bone.

I absolutely loved this book. It kept me on the edge of my seat. At one point I had to put the book down and walk away as I was afraid of the outcome. This book didn’t disappoint with the twist and turns that you don’t see coming but maybe you should have. The ending left me with my mouth wide open and was unexpected. Definitely a good easy read

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good listen

Normally I will read a Freida new release in a day but this time I sadly had to work all day so to avoid being left out of opening day read I settled on listening to it this time. As for the narrator I didn’t mind it but I always like multi POV books to have multiple narrators as well.

Anyway on to the story. The plot itself was amazing…which it typically is. We all knew who at least one of the bad people was but as always Queen of the twist really got us with that at the end….and then gave us another twist at the end of the end. Overall the book was great. I gave it a 4 simply because at times I was bored as days after the crash seemed to stretch on.

5.0 out of 5 stars You won't be able to put it down!

I read this book in a day and a half, I couldn't stop. With each twist came another page that I needed to turn.

I WAS NOT expecting the ending.

My only critic is that there seems to be a lot happening in each day that made me question the timeline for a second but it didn't prevent me from turning to the next page.

I love the short chapters and alternating POVs, it really helps keep your attention and make it hard to set down.

3.0 out of 5 stars Worth the read

I’m still grappling with my feelings about this book as I write this. Perhaps it’s the rush of excitement and adrenaline I experienced leading up to its release and upon finally getting my hands on a copy. How do I articulate this? The build-up was filled with anticipation and enthusiasm, but then came the moment of truth, and I found myself underwhelmed. While I’m processing it all, I can’t help but feel that my expectations weren’t fully realized. Yet, I’m managing to come to terms with it. 3 stars for now. ????

Wow! Can Freida McFadden write anything I won’t like? I doubt it. The Crash is my favorite story to date. The twists and turns are perfect. The connection to the characters, good or bad, is great. I gobbled this story up in one day. A great read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Atypical in my opinion

This book seemed atypical for a Freida book. The twists weren't shocking and a bulk of the story seemed repetitive. It's still not a bad book. This is just my take. I still flew through the book in 7 hours.

Quick read, not the best but not the absolute worst. Good little cozy thriller. Only gave it 3.5 because I felt the ending was a little rushed.
