About this item

We promised our love was forever. A decade later, two little blue lines might settle the score.

You’ve heard of those kids who peak in high school?
Meet my love life.
Garrett Bradford was mine from the moment we saw each other in ninth grade.
Even then, he was a six-foot-four
mountain of muscles with bright blue eyes, a wide grin, and a way with his hands.
He was the high school football star, and I was the dance team captain.
We were the storybook cliché… until we weren’t.

Now he’s the most famous offensive lineman in the league, and I’m a buttoned-up, ultra-professional lawyer.
My dancing days are over, and
my carefully controlled life is a mess.
Infertility killed my marriage, or that’s what I told myself. Infertility and a cheating ex.
And my inability to get over Garrett Bradford.

One reckless night at his little sister’s wedding is
only supposed to be a reunion, a trip down memory lane to a time when life was happier.
Six weeks later, I’m staring at
a positive pregnancy test wondering, How did this happen?

I figure I’m on my own until Garrett overhauls his life,
moves back to our small town, and shows up every day to massage my feet, hold my hair when I barf, and go with me to all my doctor’s appointments.
Our situation has an end date, just like it did so many years ago.
Unless this little score changes the game and gives us
the second chance I thought we’d lost.

(THE WAY WE SCORE is a small-town, second-chance sports romance with reunited high school sweethearts, close proximity, surprise pregnancy, a protective Daddy Bear, parents to lovers, it’s always been you, and found family vibes. No cheating. No cliffhanger. No third-act breakup.)

5.0 out of 5 stars laughter and love

Olivia is back in her hometown to take care of her mom, knowing she's going to run into her first love, Garrett Bradford. She isn't sure what she'll say to him or how she'll take seeing him again, but she does know she isn't about to fall for him again. There's no place in her life for the man who broke her heart, not when she's fresh off a divorce and feeling like taking stock of her choices. But that first love? Perhaps better off being called only love, because it's as if her body and soul still think he's her soulmate. Now she's pregnant and wondering how on earth they can make that work when he's still a pro football player across the country, and she's...here, or actually back in the city where her job is.

For most of his life, football has been Garrett's love, the thing he focuses on. But when his real first (only) love is in front of him again, he's having problems mustering up any feelings for anyone but Olivia. Is he going to walk away from football for Liv and his soon to come baby? You bet he is, even if Liv is surprised and wary. You see, he's not the irresponsible, selfish kid he was back then when he broke both their hearts. He's an adult now, one who knows who and what's important, and football isn't it. Now he just has to convince her that she's his and that he's never leaving her side again.

Being with the Bradford clan again is like a warm hug with laughter and love in the air, and I was here for every word of Grizz and Liv's back around again love story. I love how sweet and rock steady Garrett is with Liv, even when she isn't as sure of herself or the direction they're headed. True love is never an easy journey, but these two soulmates didn't stand a chance of not falling back into each other once they were both back in each other's orbits again. Their physical and emotional connection had only strengthened in the years they had been apart, and with his and her families meddling (in funny, sweet ways) it was inevitable. The siblings are succumbing to love left and right, and Hendrix gives an intriguing glimpse to what I know is going to be his own intense story - and I can't wait for it when The Way We Collide drops onto my Kindle soon!

This was a sweet second chance love story between Garrett and Olivia or Liv, former high school sweethearts that were suppose to go all the way. They split up because of differing goals in their college careers, This led to Olivia becoming a successful lawyer and marrying someone else. And Garrett go going pro with a successful career in the NFL. Garrett while having a successful college career was lacking love in his life. Olivia’s life wasn’t that great either. Her husband cheated on her so she moves back to New Hope as a new divorcee to take care of her mom. But once they see one another, they couldn’t deny they were always meant to be.

Now, I summed this up pretty nicely but know that Garrett and Liv had a lot to work through.Learning to trust again, learning how to right their past wrongs, and most of all how to make this all work with thriving careers and a meddling family. I loved seeing them get there. It is what kept me reading.

This book is great because it was surprise pregnancy done the right way. No miscommunication. They were honest with each other. The angst wasn’t too drawn out. Loved the role that the side characters played. All in all, a great read. It made me feel all warm and cozy. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Just wow. I loved this story so much. The feelings are all over the place on this one. I was happy, excited, angry, mad, turned on, and totally in love with Garrett and Olivia.

I loved all the characters, the chickens, the food, the football games, and most of all, I loved that two people could try again and succeed. What a great HEA

I absolutely LOVED this story and these characters.

Garrett and Liv were high school sweethearts meant to conquer the world together, but, as it often happens, they went their separate ways. Garrett is now an NFL star, and Liv is a lawyer. Their lives moved on, but have they?

Liv is in town for Garrett’s sister's wedding, and she tries to stay away from him. But it turns out they still want each other. And one night changes everything.

They were close. As the book goes on, you see some snippets of what they had, and you hurt for what they lost. But the moment when she tells him she’s having his baby was absolutely beautiful.
The best thing about it? Garrett instantly goes into Dad mode. It was perfect.

Her whole pregnancy is a dream. There’s no limit to what he will do to be with her, care for her, help her… and touch her too. Because Garrett wants more. Liv was the one who got away, and he’s determined to get his girl this time.
He’s impossible to resist. And they’re clearly soulmates; it’s just a matter of finding the right time. And that is now.

He’s there for every single moment. And, well, you know what they say about pregnancy and hormones… they make for some interesting scenes.
Everything fits into place slowly but surely, and it couldn’t be any other way. There’s too much love, and their connection is way too deep to fail.

Their love felt inevitable. And life gave them both a second chance to get the one who was always meant to be, the one who holds half your soul and always will.

I enjoyed it but completely unrealistic. Some major logistical issues too hard to believe. A famous nfl player should not be allowed to leave mid season…sorry.
