About this item

From the author of Recipe for Second Chances comes a swoonworthy romance bursting with wit about a therapist who falls for the wrong man…but perhaps the right one was hiding in the margins all along.

As a relationship therapist, Nora helps patients explore their feelings honestly. But she’s hiding an embarrassing relationship secret of her own: she’s in love with someone she’s never even met.

J edits the advice column Nora’s been writing anonymously for the last seven years. He’s in London, she’s in New York, and they communicate solely through shared files. When he confides that his girlfriend’s out of the picture, and her boss asks her to come to London, Nora takes both as a sign.

But that’s not the only thing on her mind. A client’s ex-boyfriend just moved into her co-op, directly beneath her. Eli blames Nora for his breakup and seems determined to make her life miserable, gleefully planning a noisy renovation.

Yet despite all his bluster, Nora eventually starts to see the softness behind Eli’s brusque, charming exterior…and after a slipup reveals a startling secret, Nora wonders whether someone can be two things at once.

Easy story that sucked me right in and had me rooting for the main characters all the way. Beautifully written narrative and thoughtful character development. I enjoyed this one!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Story!

I loved this story about a wonderful community of people who work together as friends. The NYC coop idea is one that is intriguing for a non-New Yorker. Yes, this book is a romance, but it’s truly a love story about people who have each other’s backs. There is so much to love about this book and I’ll definitely be looking for more books by this author. So why didn’t I give it 5 stars? Because it was too easy for me to figure out the conundrum and I’m not a mystery-solver. I think the reader needs to be as surprised as the characters when everything becomes clear. I know that’s vague, but I’m trying to avoid spoilers. If I could, I’d rate this 4.75 stars. Sweet, fun, uplifting read. I got this as a February First Reads pick on Amazon, and I’m so glad I did. It comes out March 1, 2025.

Cute story but had the ending pegged very early. Recipes at the end are a nice touch though, even if there wasn’t much spice.

This was such a cute story. I really liked that the readers got to see the emotional growth of the main characters both as individuals and as a couple. It was low on angst which personally I appreciate but still a very satisfying read. I will look in the future for more books from this talented author.

4.0 out of 5 stars Warm and charming

This was a warm and charming story. The main characters are well-sketched, and I was engaged with their deepening relationship. I did have a problem, though, with Nora’s parents and didn’t find them credible. They were supposed to have had good careers in advertising, yet too immature and scatterbrained to manage their own lives. And they practically disappeared from the story at the end.

I have really enjoyed this story. I could relate to Nora in so many ways, although I never found my Eli. This story had a depth to it the ROM Coms I usually read don't. Being an introvert myself I found some advice Nora gave very profound.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Light Read with a lot of Heart

Once I started reading, I knew I was going to finish this book in one sitting. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out the plot from the start but its predictability is done in an endearing way. With the outside world in its current dumpster fire stage, we need books that are just full of heart and leave you smiling. I appreciated the break from reality and would highly recommend to anyone else in the need of an escape.
