About this item

From USA Today bestselling author Audrey J. Cole comes a harrowing thriller about a woman faced with the unthinkable, when her infant goes missing aboard a plane to New York.

Rushing back to her seat, Makayla Rossi is relieved that all’s still quiet. But when she checks on her sleeping baby, relief morphs into fear. The bassinet is empty.

Liam is gone.

It was a long flight from Anchorage to New York, and with every flight attendant busy, Makayla reluctantly ran to the restroom, asking a seat neighbor to watch her son. She stepped away for just a few minutes. Yet at thirty thousand feet, he still vanished.

Passengers and crew scour the plane to no avail, and since no one recalls seeing her with a baby, suspicions begin to mount about Makayla’s mental state. She’s certain this is nothing like her mother’s on-air memory meltdown. If only Jack, her husband, were there. He would believe her. A high-profile banker featured in Forbes, maybe he could even help.

But Makayla is squarely on her own. And she’ll have to think fast in order to find her son—before it’s too late.

I chose this book as a freebie from Amazon and didn’t expect much of it as far as excitement goes but it really surprised me and was very good! The author does a great job casting doubt about Maykayla’s mental state and providing a very interesting twist. Would definitely recommend for a fast read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book!

Several hours of sleep were lost over MISSING IN FLIGHT by Audrey J. Cole, and I don't regret a one of them. What a story! From the get-go I was hooked and felt that I was right there on that flight from Anchorage to New York, but at times slipping away to New York with a couple of other important characters. Imagine being a new mom who wakes from a nap on a plane 30,000 feet in the sky, being about to pop to go to the restroom, finally deciding to leave your baby sleeping and ask the nearby passenger to keep an eye on him, going to the lavatory for a couple of minutes, returning, and your three-month-old child is gone! Vanished in thin air is not a funny thing to say! But how? He has to be somewhere. There's much more that complicates things, and it eventually comes to an all-too-shocking head. Audrey Cole writes a clean but mesmerizing thriller that kept me fully engaged and anxious to read more by her. Characterization is superb. I chose this one from my Prime Reads this month, and am I ever glad I did. Wonderful book!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good till the end

I was hooked until the last few chapters were predictable and unnecessary. I thoroughly enjoyed the fast pace until the end when the story was wrapped in a nice bow and they all lived happily ever after. Definitely had a lot of potential as a great read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not realistic

It held my attention and was a quick and suspenseful read. That said, I was a bit disappointed in the overall way it ended as I felt the first 90% of the book was realistic and then it switched to one unbelievable thing after another to close it out with a big bang. It was almost as if the author got tired of the story and just had to figure out a finish.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book! (with an infuriating protagonist)

I had a difficult time putting this book down and finished it in two sittings. The initial predicament is mysterious, and as the plot unfolds there is a lot more going on than I would've anticipated, making for a thrilling read that kept me turning pages. However, the lead character and mother of the abducted child is downright insufferable. I did my best to sympathize with her because of what she's facing as a parent, but her behavior was so extreme and psychotic that I couldn't stand her for most of the book. But overall it wasn't enough to detract from giving this book 5 stars because at the end of the day it was very entertaining, and I'd easily recommend it.

An easy read and kept me interested throughout the entire book. The only criticism is that it has more repetitive narrative than is needed. Things/feelings don't need to be described multiple times. Just book filler.
